Description The third version of my Legend of Zelda Timeline. You'll notice I did some changing around of things from the last one. Here is a list of reasons why I believe this timeline to be correct.

1. If we are to assume that Vaati from Minish Cap is the same Vaati from Four Sword and FSA, then we therefore must assume that both games come after Minish Cap.

2. If Minish Cap occurs before Ocarina of Time, then Vaati must appear on both timelines. As we know for a fact that FS and FSA occur on the same timeline, then it is unlikely that Minish Cap occurs first. In fact, my theory is that they may (actually) all occur within a 10 year gap. Minish Cap occurs, a few years later, Zelda checks on the Four Sword and Vaati breaks free. Then a few years after that, she is checking again and Ganon makes Link pull the Four Sword once more. I believe this, due to the fact that the Four Sword is never mentioned outside of the Four Sword games. So, it is possible they all occur within a 10-15 year period, and at the end, Ganon, Vaati, and the Four Sword are all destroyed. If Ganon is thusly destroyed, it leaves a reason for him to be resurrected in the Oracle Series.

3. As I watch the ending to Twilight Princess again, I notice that it appears that Ganondorf actually dies at the end. My reasoning is the Triforce seems to vanish from his hand, and all of a sudden he seems to act weak. He then appears to die, and no one does anything with him from there. In FSA, it is stated that Ganondorf was born to the Gerudo not long before FSA. On top of that, the land in FSA masks the land in ALttP. Thus, it's possible they occur on different timelines, but at the same time. This brings up what I call the "Twinrova Factor".

4. "The Twinrova Factor". In Ocarina of Time, Link kills Twinrova in the Adult timeline, thus ending any chance of Twinrova working to resurrect Ganon. However, when he goes back in time, they are not killed. In fact, we see them in Termina. What are the chances, then, that they moved to Termina after being chased out of Hyrule? This, however, would mean that perhaps Termina is just another piece of land in the world, and not an alternate dimension.

5. In Twilight Princess, we see Link returns back into Hyrule as a child and warns Zelda of the future. The King then has Ganondorf seized for treason and executed, but something goes wrong. This is what I call the "Triforce Paradox" which I will state in a moment. The Sages are then forced to seal him away within the Twilight Mirror BUT Ganon manages to kill one first. In this state, there are now FIVE sages. In Ocarina of Time, however, there were not only SEVEN sages, but Shigeru Miyamoto (or was it Eiji?) has stated that Ocarina of Time is the war mentioned in ALttP. Therefore, ALttP MUST occur on the Adult Link side if we are to believe Shigeru (or was it Eiji?). But you say "They are all one race in ALttP!" That takes us to point 7, but first...a quick note on the "Triforce Paradox".

6. "The Triforce Paradox". Not really a reason, but a note to consider. Link was sent back in time to be a child. When that happened, he was sent back with the Triforce of Courage. This caused a paradox which caused the Triforce to split apart. One went to Ganondorf, and one went to Zelda. This could mean that, perhaps, Din is not an "Evil Goddess" but simply that jumping back in time caused something unforseen by Zelda.

7. The Rito. We can clearly see that, in Wind Waker, the Zora have become a humanoid-like creature. This makes me assume that they could then interbreed with the humans. Not only that, but the Gorons more-or-less vanish, save for a few wandering the land. Now you say "What about Goron Island in PH?" You would know the answer to this if you beat PH. The entire game occurs in an alternate dimension. Thus, there is no Goron Island in the Hylian dimension, or do people forget the fact that they make that point at the end of PH?

8. Zelda 2 itself! For Legend of Zelda 2 to even physically be possible, according to the manual, the King of Hyrule, many hundreds of years before, must have held the full Triforce. This means that Ganon must have died at some point. So, why would Ganon be around again? Simple! If you recall, in Ocarina of Time, Adult Link kills Twinrova. HOWEVER, when he returns to the past, Twinrova is still alive. Who is to say they don't try to revive him? Also, Ganon is revived in Oracle Series. Is it possible this is the same Ganon as the one from Zeldas 1 and 2? Perhaps. However, there may also be a chance this Ganon could be nothing more then a glorified Moblin, as he had to steal the Triforce of Power in order to have it.

9. The Zelda factor. In Zelda 2's manual, it states that Zelda was cast into a deep sleep by a mage when she would not tell the Prince where the Triforce was. If this occurred first and foremost, at the very beginning of the story, then it is impossible for ANY of the other games to occur. You say "Why?" Because Link must have obtained the entire Triforce and awoken Zelda before the Triforce would even be able to exist in the Sacred Realm for Ganon to claim in OoT. Most fans forget the manual states that the King of Hyrule sealed away the Triforce of Courage within the Great Palace. This means that all of this MUST have occurred AFTER Ganon claimed the Triforce in Ocarina of Time, since the same king also had THE ENTIRE TRIFORCE. Therefore, the beginning of Zelda 2 CANNOT occur before any other game, otherwise the Triforce of Courage could not be handed to Link in any of the other games.

10. The mirror factor. This one is my favorite. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, who defends the ALttP occurs after TP thing always uses this one on me. "Both have a magic mirror which allows you to pass between the 'light' and 'dark' worlds." I always want to ask "Have these people finished TP?" In Twilight Princess, Mdina DESTROYS THE MIRROR! Yes! She totally destroys the mirror! There is no more mirror, thus, it cannot continue on to another game. HOWEVER, please remember the Twili were sealed away BEFORE the events of Ocarina of Time. If you want to believe in the mirror factor, you MUST believe they occur on opposite sides, otherwise the mirror cannot exist in ALttP. Also, in TP the Twilight Mirror allowed movement from the Light World into the Twilight Realm. It is possible that the mirror may thus allow you to travel from Twilight to Light should you hold it on the Twilight side, BUT AGAIN, the Twilight Mirror was DESTROYED at the end of TP. There is no way the mirror is the same if they occur on the same timeline, but it is possible if they occur on opposite sides, which brings us to point 11.

11. Twilight Realm vs Dark World. In Twilight Princess, we see the Twilight causes Link to switch forms. Note, however, that that is the Twilight itself, and not the Twilight Realm. Also, everyone else who enters the Twilight becomes spirits. In the Dark World in A Link to the Past, Link changes forms when he enters the Dark World, but he does NOT become a wolf like he does in the Twilight in TP. He becomes a pink bunny. On top of that, all who enter the Dark Realm became "Reflections of their inner selves." So, did they become spirits? No! They become trees, animals, balls, mushrooms, etc. They didn't become ghosts. Now, factor in that all of this is based upon the Twilight of TP and NOT the Twilight REALM itself, and who knows what could happen? Also factor in that Midna returned to the Twilight Realm at the end of TP. Did she take Ganon with her? No! So why would he end up back in there again? The Twilight Mirror was the only way between realms in TP, but in ALttP, there are several doorways between realms. Without the Twilight Mirror, I see no reason why ALttP could follow TP, not to mention that I doubt the Twili would let Ganondorf back into the Twilight Realm.

12. The hat. Now...this is what's funny...everyone points to the hat in Minish Cap as the reason that it occurs first...well here's something to note: Link doesn't start with a hate in Wind Waker either! The point of this point? So I can say "It's a hat! It has no secret meaning! Get over it! If you want something to point to, find something else!"

13. At the end of the Oracle Series, we see that Link heads off on another adventure upon a boat. In Link's Awakening, we see said boat is thrust into a storm and is destroyed, leaving Link to awaken on Koholint Island. But this brings up the "Nightmare Factor".

14. "The Nightmare Factor". In LA, Nightmare (or Delhek or whatever his real name was...the final boss) states that all of his forms were creatures from Link's past. In these forms we see a giant Bot, Ganon, Agahnim, a Moldorm, along with (I think) 2 other things. People say "He fights Agahnim! That means it occurs after ALttP!" What people forget is in the Oracle Series, one of the minibosses is ALSO Agahnim. This makes the Oracle Series factor still possible, thus meaning LA may occur after OS.

15. "Why the fusion of the timelines?" Quite simple. No matter which way the games are played, we see the ending play out exactly the same, as well as the openings. If they occur on opposite sides of the timeline, then it is possible the timelines fuse together. Also, there was a third game originally planned as well that dealt with "Farore - Oracle of Secrets" On top of that, Farore's purpose is to bring items from one game to the other game. Thus, it's possible he has to traverse timelines, and the retrieving of said items may bring the timelines together. This would also make sense, as it would easily seem like Twinrova would want Ganon to rule over a single Hyrule, and not have to deal with the fact that there are two Hyrules. This also brings up the possibility that their base may occur between timelines, which would explain why Link must be teleported by the Oracles to their base.

16. "The War of the Races". What is the War of the Races you ask? It has also been called the "Hyrulean Civil War". It is the battle where the Shiekah warriors attempted to rise up against their masters (the Hylian Royal Family) and tried to steal away the Triforce using the Fused Shadows. However, the Goddesses sent the Light Spirits to seal them away within the Twilight Realm. From there, two items of their great powers were left behind. One was the Fused Shadows, which was broken into four pieces. The other was Majora's Mask, which was sent off elsewhere.

17. Majora's Mask is an odd game. We see the moon comes crashing down and destroys all of Termina, and Link must rise up to stop it. Many say "If this happened, why wasn't the world destroyed before?" Simple. 1. Termina is a different land completely. If the moon fell on it, it wouldn't destroy everything, just Termina, as is stated in Majora's Mask. 2. What if the occurrences in Termina occurred because Child Link came back? How many were thrown out of Hyrule for treason? Twinrova was, Ganondorf was sealed away, whose to say others didn't run away as well? Maybe the Happy Mask Salesman left? Maybe that's why he went after Majora's Mask? Maybe the peace allowed him to search for it, while Ganondorf's reign wouldn't allow such a thing?

That's about it ^^ Feel free to post with your reasoning, but once again, I don't want "ALttP occurs after TP." I want "ALttP occurs after TP because " understand? Try to make your reasoning as logical and thought out as possible. If it's "The hat!" it's not logical, and there's no reason to point to A HAT as a reason why a game occurs before everything else.

I believe this timeline was created before Skyward Sword was even announced. Also, there's an official timeline out, so it renders this one null either way.

yes, but Adult Timeline and Child Timeline are not how old he was, they are when they occur. The "Adult Timeline" is the end of the story of OoT when he was an adult. The "Child Timeline" was the timeline created when he went back in time and was a child again, also at the end of Ocarina of Time.

Alright here's an idea every Zelda Game has one thing in common a forest its become tradition for a Zelda game to have one but what if the forests were all connected and instead of different times different Hyrules
Termina is a place without the Triforce thus no Ganondorf and no Master Sword. This theory is the Lost Woods Theory where every Zelda game is connected.Majora's Mask backs me up on this as Link travels to a parallel world, dimension, or Hyrule in my case.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sarkario In reply to SureenInk [2011-07-06 02:41:54 +0000 UTC]

lets say for example the Link from Majora's Mask is traveling through the Lost Woods and the Link from Twilight Princess decided to explore more of Faron Woods well since they're the same forest there's a chance that the two may meet and for the record if you listen close enough you can hear Saria's Song which will lead you to the midget rather easily which is the same way you find Saria in OOT.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SureenInk In reply to sarkario [2011-07-07 07:44:37 +0000 UTC]

I still don't get it...Twilight Princess occurs 100+ years after Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask...the Link from Majora's Mask would be long dead o.O In fact, the skeleton spirit thing that teaches Link all of his skills is usually considered to be Link from Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sarkario In reply to SureenInk [2011-07-07 15:23:40 +0000 UTC]

I am saying what if instead of different times different versions of Hyrule such as Twilight Princess' Link and the Faron Woods which is indeed the Lost Woods since you can hear Saria's Song where ever that midget is hiding. For the record Link was a kid and when kids get lost in the Lost Woods they turn into Skull Kids not Stalfos.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SureenInk In reply to sarkario [2011-07-07 16:56:17 +0000 UTC]

Well, we know it is different times because Twilight Princess occurs 100+ years after Ocarina of Time on the Child Timeline, as stated by Eiji Aonuma himself, so there's no way it's just different versions of Hyrule. So, no matter what, your argument is flawed. Besides which, if I recall correctly, the Faron Woods were in the east, which would mean both versions would occur on the same side of the forest. So, again, your agrument doesn't work.

The music that plays is Saria's Song because it is indeed the Lost Woods, but you'll notice Link didn't become a Stalfos when he went in. Also, Link wasn't a Skullkid in MM, and he had been searching for a year at least at that point. So in the end, that doesn't really work at all. Link is protected from the change because he's the Chosen One of Farore, or "Hero of Time". So he wouldn't become anything no matter what.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sarkario In reply to SureenInk [2011-07-08 00:54:14 +0000 UTC]

Heh fine but your timeline is FLAWED at least my theory has all the games included does Spirit Tracks appear on that timeline because I don't see it.plus it was on the east on the Wii version which is a flipped variation of the Gamecube version to accommodate the fact that the Wii remote is held in the right hand and for the record Link is a left-handed charecter. So really it depend on which version of TP you play.

SureenInk In reply to sarkario [2011-07-08 20:26:43 +0000 UTC]

Didn't Ganondorf get executed in Twilight Princess for the things he did to the Sacred Realm in Link to the Past? Therefor they a) should be in one timeline b) LttP before TP.

Didn't Nintendo state there is a chronological order, but not a split timeline?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SureenInk In reply to Tenshinoya [2010-03-09 03:16:32 +0000 UTC]

Nintendo was the ones who first revealed the idea of the Split Timeline theory. So, no, what Nintendo has done and said about the timeline supports the Split Timeline. However, there is no way for ALttP to occur before TP because Ganondorf is captured by the sages and executed shortly after Link returns to his life as a child. From there, the execution goes wrong and the sages seal him within the Twilight Realm. He then breaks lose with the help of Zant during TP. So, no, there's no way for ALttP to come before TP.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tenshinoya In reply to SureenInk [2010-03-09 16:08:34 +0000 UTC]

OK so, when TP follows the kid timeline ... the timeline Link never opened the Sacred Realm, so Ganondorf never could lay hands on the Triforce - why is he having the Triforce of Power in TP?

Besides it was never said the Shiekas were the dark interlopers. Impaz, the last of them, still is in the service of the king of Hyrule in TP. The dark interlopers were banished to the Twilight Realm and became the Twili ... I guess. I played it already some time ago.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SureenInk In reply to Tenshinoya [2010-03-09 23:12:11 +0000 UTC]

-nods- it's true that the Shiekah are never stated as being the ones who were sealed away. However, it is hard to deny the fact that, prior to OoT, a majority of the Shiekah are gone. There is a tombstone in the graveyard that says something about "the loyal ones lie here" or something like that, and I've heard that somewhere it is also explained that the tear in the Shiekah symbol is because a group of the Shiekah rose up and rebelled, thus the tear was added as mourning for that group. So, that's why I believe that.

Also, as for the Triforce of Power, remember that in TP the sages say "as if by some divine prank, Ganondorf had the Triforce of Power." Not even Ganondorf knew he had it until that moment. When Link jumped back in time, he didn't release the Triforce of Courage. As such, it created a paradox where the Triforce was forced to split to accomodate the fact that Link had the Triforce of Courage. Equally, in the Adult Timeline, a paradox was formed where there was no Triforce of Courage, and as such, time created the shattered Triforce of Courage. In this, we can see how Ganondorf would thusly have obtained the Triforce of Power without knowing it.

As another note, the fact that Ganondorf from TP has to be Ganon from the game before it, it is impossible for this Ganon to be the same Ganon from ALttP, as Ganon from ALttP is seen as being destroyed and Link obtains the full Triforce to himself. Not to mention ALttP ends with the line "And the Master Sword sleeps again...forever!" which tells us that no other games involving the Master Sword can occur afterward.

Tenshinoya In reply to SureenInk [2010-04-10 12:06:07 +0000 UTC]

I found both information on the internet; that there is a split timeline and that there is not, both stated by Nintendo - split internet theory?

You put a lot of time and effort into this. So u should have more reliable sources than a simple "I've heard that SOMEWHERE it is also explained .....". In fact I never saw the tear in the sheika-symbol, to me it's always been the handle of the lens of truth.

I don't quite get it how there can be a paradox in OOT. When Link pulled the Master Sword out of the stone, he granted Ganondorf access to the Sacred Realm (because by doing so he opened it). The moment Ganondorf touched the Triforce it shattered, that's how I remember it.

I know in TP they say sth about a divine prank but to be honest, when reading it I thought this is a lame description of events, we never get to know what really happened.

Perhaps I mixed things up there because in an interview one of the developers explained the Shadow Realm is not the Dark Realm from LttP, it's a completely different world. So that's why I connect LttP to Twilight Princess. Ever since I'm having the story in my head that Ganondorf was banished to the Sacred Realm in OOT where he messed it up so it turned into the dark Realm. He then uses Aghanim to come back and is defeated by Link. For his crimes he's executed in TP. I can't remember the ending of LttP clearly, but besides the sentence the Master Sword would sleep forever - is there any hint that the divine prank granting Ganondorf the Triforce of Power can't take place after LttP? I really dunno.

I wouldn't put to much weight on "And the Master Sword sleeps again...forever!". For the ppl living in Hyrule it seemed like forverer because none of them thought of Ganondorf ever to return. When he does in like hundreds of years from now all of the ppl in LttP are long gone. So to them it was like forever.

So back then when this sentence was written it was the last game in a series. If Ocarina would have failed the Master Sword would have gone sleeping forever literally. But now that the series stayed successful we have like 3745664 sequels. The guys developing games today - I think theydon't care about sth somebody said in a game from almost 20 years ago. I guess many of the people from back then don't even work for Nintendo anymore. It would be interesting if the Japanese original uses the same words.

(Translations can be horribly messed up. I always see that when comparing the german and english translations from Final Fantasy games. Sometimes when you compare it ppl are saying completely different things. When Wakka is sick and plunges into Lulu's arms she says sth like "You really gave it ur all!". In german she says sth like "It suits you!" Both directly translated from Japanese! LOL)

Oh goodness another timeline theory @____@
omg ove gone through so many its just impossible to tell which one is right, or the closest to being right since they all have very good logical reasons and facts. Yours is one of those good ones, as far as i can tell!

not to be rude but isn't link to the past supposed to be a prequel in chronological order?
