It's a bit hard to explain but the most important thing is to get the first steps right! Before getting worried about the textures and the juicy highlights I worry about having a solid base! That's the key! You can use realistic textures, but if the base is not good enough everything will fall apart... In a painting there's a certain order of priorities you have to follow. You just can't do it all at the same time. First I worry about the construction: placement of features and proportions; the local colors, then lighting. Only when I have those things figured out, I move on to add textures and final details.

wa, that's cool. I usually rush in to rendering too quick ven while my sketch step is still wrong at construction, perhaps that's why the result is awful. Thank you.

Yes, I also get too excited and jump straight to the rendering, but I've learned that it's better to slow down and take the time to make a solid base. Actually you'll be faster, because you'll make less mistakes and you won't have to fix them later.

You... your skills... YOUR SKILLS...

They are so amazing that I've never seen anything alike before, you are the best artist I've ever seen in my life! Your skills are seriously more then anything ever that man described with words and thoughts and your art should be seen by the world.

Oh my! Thank you so much for the kind words. That’s really good to hear! I feel like I’m making progress with my art, but at the same time I know I still have a lot to learn! At the beginning everything was soo difficult... We have to get past the crappy paintings to reach to good ones! I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished so far, but this really is a never-ending quest…

I understand.

Why can't you do a sheet of your development (like how you was developing your skills all the way from 2000 to 2014) It would be nice to see! ^^

Ahah I don't know if I'm ready to show the world my crappy paintings yet! On the other hand it could be an interesting way to show my progress. I'll think about it!

Your skill is... scary That's so damn great! Astonishing...mindblowing. My brain is a little bit overstrained right now to comprehend, that this is NOT a photo.

Keep going the good work! It's a pleasure to the eye!
