You know.... I think I'm the only one who actually likes the guide.
I mean.. in the game, he's actually the least cocky of all the NPCs and the one to least commonly make rude or snide remarks about the player and, to be honest, he's only trying to help. Β He doesn't even ask for money.
It's actually kind of sad that everyone wants him to die.
I mean, even the game developers want him to die! Β That's why you throw the GUIDE vodo doll in the lava to summon the Wall of Flesh. Β Red designed it that way on propose and it's pretty obvious why.
The other NPCs hate him as well. Β I remember the guns dealer saying, "I heard there's a doll in the underworld that looks like (insert current guide's name here). Β Boy, would I love to put a few rounds in on it."
So in the long run, he's hated by everyone in and out of the game.
If he were a real person, I couldn't imagine how depressed he would be when no one's looking...

Sorry about venting on your comic, I know it was meant to be funny. Β And... actually.... if it was another player, I would have burst out laughing! Β Sent it to all my friends that played Terraria!..... Β But This honestly made me more sad about the subject than I was before.

I view Guide very differently. Provided all he does is give you the same types of hints over and over, having no emotions to much of his dialogue, he feels like the most robotic of the NPCs. The other NPCs feel more lively, especially the little knack with the female ones during a blood moon.
That aside..
Guide and the NPCs and my testing character, which is portrayed here, actually have a whole story to go with them. I actually planned on doing snippets of their story as short comics, but of course, I have a ton of workload, so I can't really.
Long story short, Guide hates my testing character [Test, but I decided to change it to Suweeka anyway], and she hates all the NPCs. Given she's a testing character, she doesn't exist to "play the game", and so has no use for any of the NPCs.
My actual playing character doesn't really hate the NPCs, and is rather neutral. She still hates it if they leave the doors open though.

Also... The guide can be useful in a different way. Β (You probably know this already) If you give him a material, he can show you what you can make with it, which I find EXTREMELY useful for crafting purposes.

Aaaaaaand also, sorry to get into this... kind of... argument about the guide. Β It just made me feel sick when I saw someone say something like, "Everyone hates the Guide. Β He deserved to die this way."

The player portrayed here in this comic is my test character. I'm a beta tester. But given I'm also an artist, I figured giving her a backstory would be interesting. It just so happened that she hates all the NPCs.
The little knack is the pissy mood that female NPCs get during the blood moon. It breaks the monotony that most NPCs have, to an extent.
But don't feel bad because other people differ in opinion. It's all relative after all.

Yeah, it's just hard when pretty much everyone around me differs in opinion than I do.
So far, I only know two people that have the same opinion as I do, one of them being my friend.

true. Whenever I need help/ I'm not sure about items, I just use the guide to help me on material. that's why I protect him a lot of times. Then when I found out to get to the wall of flesh, I cry.
