I also called Mithril armor "Soon-to-be Armor", and Cobalt, "Mysterious blue armor".
Just saying the title doesn't really have to be exactly what the drawing portrays, but in this case, I name it what I call it :>

Random story tiem!
The Shadow Armor is the reason that there aren't many surviving adventurers in Terraria. Most beings end up being corrupted simply by wearing it. Only those with completely pure souls can wear it without fear of becoming corrupt. Those that are corrupted undergo a series of drastic changes, turning them into Devourers. The Corruption is merciless in its pursuit for new material to corrupt. There are, however, people impure in soul who have not been turned into Devourers. These people in fact, have sufficiently evil souls, and they gain power from their Corruption, giving them the ability to command all Corrupt creatures, and even shapeshift into them at will. However, whatever motives and goals they may have had before are lost to the instinct to corrupt and destroy, as with any corrupted being. Only by cleansing the Corruption can these unfortunate souls be restored. Cleansing it completely restores those corrupted to their original forms.

It's a lance. And who cares if it's a spear? I honestly don't care what it looks like in the game. These are my reinterpretations of items in terraria.

Spear - a pointed rock on the end of a stick.
Lance - a blade on the end of a stick.
Logic - What some people find difficult to use.
This is clearly a lance not a spear. If anything the game has it wrongly named.
