Description Long time no upload.

Atm I am incredibly busy and I really hate it that I can't use my camera. University is so much busier than high-school was. But it's fun, so I am OK with it.

A few weeks ago there was an evening that I didn't have to study. This summer I moved to Delft, which is in the Randstad. Let's say that it is a major city including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. It's really a metropolic area instead of loads of city.
This means that everything is incredibly easy to access with public transport. An as a student, public transport is free . So I took the train and the metro to get to the Erasmus bridge. If you ask me I'd say one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. And as I am a studying Civil Engineering I can say I have already seen (images) of loads of bridges.
Rotterdam is the 2nd city of the Netherlands. You might know the port of Rotterdam, Europes largest mainport. Currently they are dredging/building Maasvlakte 2. On of the biggest land reclamation projects ever. I can't wait to go there on excursion. But enough irrelevant information. Excuse me.

There was a really nice amount of clouds in the sky. Because you are in a big agglomeration there is quite some light-pollution. This made the clouds light up wonderfully.
When I was standing at the south-bank of the Maas I saw the clouds heading from the north in exactly the same direction as the cables as the bridge. So my goal was to get the clouds blurred in the same direction as the bridge. Therefore I used a 3 minutes exposure.

Stunning view and lovely lighting Martijn! Love the movement of the clouds and how the bridge stands out amidst the dark sky and water!

Heel mooie foto!

Heel vaag

This is an icredible bridge, and you composed it very well in my opinion.
Excellent use of long exposure, the clouds streak wonderfully over the sky, although there is a fair bit of noise going on.

Thanks a lot. I agree with you about the noise. The nikon hase some real problems with it sometimes. Maybe I'll run it through neat image. That might help. I appreciate your comments a lot!

No problem at all mate, and also what Marcin mentioned with straightening out the buildings.

Good capture but... I would strighten out buldings, lamps, etc and maybe it's fake of my screen but see to much noise on the sky.

Svision In reply to kulten [2009-10-27 18:39:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the noise is too bad indeed. The nikon seems to have some problems with it in low-light conditions. I also wanted to straighten things up but I don't know how to do so exactly.
Thanks a lot!

kulten In reply to Svision [2009-10-28 08:37:46 +0000 UTC]

I think just exposure could be longer and solve that noise problem. Anyway for example I'll show you capture where I took 15 minutes of exposure during night and no noise at all: [link] .

Svision In reply to kulten [2009-11-01 08:34:24 +0000 UTC]

I think your right but it's hard to decide which exposure to use in such a low light condition. I'll keep in mind 'go longer to avoid noise problems,' Thanks a lot!

Nice. Great composition; I can't help but love this bridge, no matter what view I see of it.

Love the rushing clouds, as well, from the lengthy exposure. However, I can't help but notice a fair bit of noise in the sky.

YOu're not the only person who mentions the noise and I cannot disagree with you about it. I'll give it a try in neat image. Maybe it helps. Thanks a lot for your comment!!!!
