Ty Lee and Iroh....I'm hoping for interaction between these two in this season. Ty Lee said that she'd found Iroh funny, and she'll be going through character development...behind her mask of peppiness, I can imagine someone who's actually feeling sorry for Iroh. Which may be more than Zuko can say. Idiot.But basically, this is supposed to be on the ship coming back....I guess....I hadn't seen the episode yet when I drew this, so I was not sure where Iroh was going to be or what the exact color of the lighting was supposed to be.
Took a lot of editing and such, but after a while, I got it down to something decent....some stuff still bothers me, but I'm over that. The lighting was fun to play with (bar effects = pretty fun), but don't study it too closely, it doesn't make much sense. Iroh's not supposed to have too much lighting, either--keep him in the dark.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ty Lee breaking Iroh out of prison....the thought of her disabling the guard without breaking stride or even looking at him is just too bad-acrobat to pass up....it won't happen, probably, but you know that Ty Lee with attitude would rule all.
She looks a lot older with a cape....
And I want to see her new outfit for this season. The pink-with-bare-midriff thing is just kind of old now....she needs something more Fire Nation.
Iroh probably wouldn't have his back to her, either, but it's too late now. Get out of jail soon, Iroh! And next time, Ty Lee, bring a file with you or something, that's how you say you're sorry....

I can see why Ty Lee likes Iroh. I bet his aura is the brightest out of the whole royal family plus with him there's zero pressure. I hope that they interact with oneanother soon this season.

Ty's saying that she's sorry that he's all locked up while Iroh is seems surprised that a friend of Azula's could be so...concerned. He's deciding if he can trust her but we all know he can. Ty's just another victim of peer preasure.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOo this is absolutely lovely! I love the idea of Ty Lee hanging around Iroh and if that's the case I'll totally forgive her lack of appearance thus far in the season. It can't be too much fun for her, I mean her best friend is pretty much permanently glued to Zuko's lips, (always good for awkwardness and third-wheel feelings) and Azula...ya she's not quite a fun companion. Unless your a masochist.

Oh, I'm sure that Ty Lee's been lurking the whole time....she probably can't get enough of Mai and Zuko being together. XD
She's got Azula to bother, besides. And she's probably enjoying herself doing whatever else.

Eh no matter how good a couple you think your friends make there always comes a point where you wish they'd stop trying to swallow eachother's face-in my experience at least. Though I'm sure she's delighted they finally hooked up.

For which I will send copious giftbaskets and fruitboxes to her for doing and sparing me the dinner I'd eaten before watching,despite it being more than slightly rude.
I can admit it was sweet that they were on a nice little picnic in a nice little secluded spot, watching the sun...set? But the cheese...Ugh the cheese was unbearable. I'd say they should get a room, but then they might take me seriously and I'd shrivel up and die at having caused such event.
It didn't really seem like a first Maikout to me. It was definitely pre-meditated and unless Mai set it up...which really doesn't surprise me too much actually...I dunno I think they've practically fused their lips together already.

Sun rise. To watch it set, they'd have to go to the other side of the Fire Nation. They were watching a sunrise there...symbolism, perhaps?

It might have been their first time to have it in a romantic setting; a Fire Nation ship doesn't say much for that.

Ah but timeline wise for the episode that scene takes place in the evening, after Aang got out of school and around the same time as Sokka and Katara-excuse me Wang and Sapphire had a meeting with the headmaster about their "son" unless the two stories happened on different days, or the clips were out of order in time sequence. So that would make it a sunset, which would be symbolism in its own right, unless of course I'm just confused outta my poor college student mind. I won't rule that out.
As for first romantic Maikout, possibly. Though ships could be seen as VERY romantic, be they Fire Nation or whatever (actually for Zuko that might make it that much more special...). And don't forget they had Ba Sing Se. They might have managed some time at the fountain before the walls came tumbling down.

They've done clips out of time sequence before. 
Unless Katara REALLY takes two days to get the scroll to the Earth King "right away".
Check the map of the Fire Nation. The capital is on the west coast of an inland sea. The sun still goes from east to west in this world (confirmed in "Avatar Day"). It could be a glitch on their part, but calling it a sunrise is much easier. There's no real counterargument to sunrise (besides the day placement thing), and it's impossible for it to be sunset.
The spot might have had special meaning to Mai, too; horizons aren't exactly unrelated to their relationship. She might have watched the horizon often to see if his ship would appear. Maybe not, but...it's possible.
They might have had a Maikout scene on that night, but...they only had one night there, and they might have spent more time talking than kissing.
Basically, it's geographically impossible for someone to be watching a sunset over the waves while the Fire Nation capital is still in sight.

Well, there have been continuity miscarriages before and its possible that someone may not have had access to the map. But also, they're way up a mountain. Who knows what the view is like.

Take a picnic breakfast to sunrise! China's different, they eat throughout the day. I believe. I don't think that they really eat meals there as a rule, you sort of nourish yourself throughout the day.
Getting up before dawn and going up to watch the sunrise is pretty romantic...pack yourself some food and eat while you wait, converse, things like that....

Well, the L word can be scary and I imagine Zuko's one of those guys who'd wet himself in fear if she used it. Actually wait no. He'd probably be fine with it-more likely to use it as a security device. She'd likely be the one to balk at it.
maybe it's just that I don't enjoy breakfast or being up at unspeakable hours but a breakfast picnic at the crack of dawn doesn't seem like it'd be terribly romantic to me.
They are on a mountain though, and that would afford a pretty nice view nomatter what part of the island they're on. Ugh cartography and I never really get along...

Not as unobstructed and close of one as they have....there seems to be a huge volcano around there, too, though that's not really definitely that tall....and besides that, the horizon would end before they looked that far. The distance is HUGE.
Trust me, I was REALLY skeptical and analyzed the scene multiple times before I finally realized that we were looking at a sunrise and not a sunset; I thought it was a sunset, but then checked the map to see where they were and realized that it couldn't be one.
I had to measure the map up with the island that the Gaang goes to to realize what the proportions are like....just trust me, they're looking at a sunrise. For all I know, it'll mean nothing, but that's definitely a sunrise that they're watching.
It's the first opportunity we have for a cut to Zuko since his trip to Uncle the following night; it could be at any time of day. It seems like sunset, but if it is, then it's a mistake, because it's physically impossible....the island right above the dot on the map where the first episode took place? That's this island: [link]
