Description
When given the choice between the crown and Katara, crown wins. Every time.I mean, hey, technically leadership of the Fire Nation DID belong to Azula...
No, I didn't spend any time on details or shading or backgrounds or anything with this piece. This was a gag that...many people could have pulled off better...but I don't think they were going to. So, yeah. Here we go.

And hey, I think Zuko would take some pleasure in being able to pay Katara back for all of those times she made him miserable....you may notice that Katara tends to suck all of the happiness out of Zuko when the two come into contact.
Don't worry, she survived! She just had to take Appa to the North Pole for a quick dip in the Spirit Oasis....
Things I'm proud of in this picture: Zuko's face and pose in the last panel. And the Fire Sage's finger.
This is my first "page-setup" comic, so the pacing is AWFUL and the humor is absent. It's practice! I'll get better! I hope.

Yes. I did laugh at this. I totally did not see the last two panels coming. I thought Katara was going to evolve into her douche level and enslave the Fire Nation as payback.

LoL that does make sense, and I can't say Katara doesn't deserve that variety of handling, she was kinda evilish to him pre-Southern Raiders and all...but that just doesn't seem to be the way to promote good international relations or start a new era of peace and kindness

And she said she'd fix his scar but never did. She just ran off with her boyfriend and left Zuko with his still-mutilated face in the room, and then somehow expected him to still be nice to her. Serves her right.

Yeah that was kinda a ripoff...she totally should have tried to keep her word on the scar front...though Aang might have thrown a tantrum about that, he didn't seem to like the idea of Katara fraternizing with the enemy when Zuko was in fact the bad guy. But on the plus side, had Katara healed Zuko, Aang might not have needed the spirit water later.

Hey, I was happy beyond belief when she didn't heal the scar, ad it wasn't my Kataang side...it was my Zuko side. Zuko's scar deserves to live. And I love how he was so protective of it in EIP....

Well it is part of his identity and all. And it does mark that he's kinda an idiot...he never lost the honor at all. She probably couldn't have anyway, as Aang still has the scar he got from his fight with a sociopathic firebender even after the spirit water. But it would have been nice to at least try

Actually, apparently the creators said that since she has no spiritual connection to Zuko, the water wouldn't have worked on him...same applies to Jet.
Which makes me suspect that the "special properties" just means that it can channel her own spirit. Just plain water (maybe with a slightly sweeter or more tasteless taste)...

I don't think it would have worked even if they were soul mates or he was born the Avatar, truth be told. It's scar tissue, not a fresh injury. The best chance she'd have would be fading it I think (that is one intense burn) and I doubt even that possibility. But yes I did hear that commentary (on COD itself I think...book 2 box set).
I don't really know that the water would be too different from your standard issue water, maybe a bit cleaner and sacred...though i dunno how I feel about fish water...It was probably spiritually blessed or something, but its not magic or anything. The real power it had came from when Katara poured her heart into it...Aang, regardless of how she thought of him as a boy, was the world's last hope, and more importantly hers's. He meant the world and more to her so I'd be willing to guarantee that she put everything she had into making that water work

Well, Azula did cheat with shooting at Katara...or did she?
See, if the bolt had actually HIT Katara, then there would be the technicality. But it could just as easily be argued that Azula missed Zuko and he dove into it, or that she predicted that Zuko would move there and shot that spot in anticipation...obviously, all lies, but it COULD hold up in court, I think.
And no, Bryke didn't forget that part, they just didn't show THIS part.
