Description
A torc-style bracelet/wristband design I've had knocking about in my head for several years (I actually started this sketch way back then, and only inked/colored it now). sayh and my 10th anniversary is in Feb, and I would love to have this made by then to celebrate it. Don't know if I'll be able to afford it, or if anyone can actually make it, or something very close to it, but hey, I can still dream, right?Edit: Yay, I finally found someone to make it!! A very talented and kind local jeweller:
(Note: Sorry for the total perspective fail on the twisted band, and the lack of highlights/shadows on the metal; I just wanted to get the basic idea across.

Yes, I would still very much love to have this made. What would you charge for it (feel free to note me), and would you be able to work in brass, copper and pewter (or at least differently-colored metals of some type, just for the contrast)? I sadly can't afford silver, gold and rosegold, or else I would go for that.Β

If this is the bracelet you mentioned in your note, you need to contact *Illahie for it.
The heads require casting, which I don't have the set-up for. This IS exactly the kind of thing she does, however.

I know!! D: It's crazy...it seems like only yesterday that I met Sayh online, but then I remember everything in-between, and then it feels like the 10 years it really has been. But most of the time, it sure doesn't feel that long! XD

Thank you! XD He had a mandarin duck char when I met him (as well as an osprey and white tiger), but I "gryphonized" (something I do to unsuspecting victims ) his duck by adding a red panda, since he loves all things Chinese. He liked the new duck-gryphon form so much, he kept that one, and shelved the other two.

Perhaps lost wax casting as a technique? [link]
You can do it interchangeably with silver or bronze, which would suit your design, and it would allow you to carefully mold the wax precisely the way you want the final head pieces.
Regarding price, silver costs are dramatically expensive right now (they've shot up over the past year according to a friend who sells jewelry for a living). Nevertheless, you should still be able to find a silvery option at a reasonable price, though I don't know enough personally to offer any more specific thoughts than I already have. Meanwhile, you'd probably be able to sign up for a mini course in lost wax casting and get information from the teacher at a good cost for your time and effort.
Lovely design, and happy 10th anniversary in advance!

This can totally be done using the lost wax process! Sculpting wax for the sona' busts there, and wire form wax in the twisted part of the band on top of a bracelet blank wouldnt be too hard- though if it was cast all in one piece getting seperate parts in different kinds of metal would be tough. Assuming the thiner, darker brown on the band and on one of the busts represents copper, the bust would be cast separate in copper using the lost wax technique, while the semi-thick copper wire could be wrapped around the bronze bracelet after it on its own was cast. The silver bust as well could be cast after sculpted with sculpting wax, same as the copper one. I'm not /entirely/ sure how one would attach the pieces together in the end but I know it can be done :> (I used to take metalworks in college, I probably would have learned more if I'd taken part 2 and 3 of it)

Well you got the right idea there. I work with lost wax and do know how to connect and make the different pieces but I don't have the time right now to work on this bracelet. Though I'm not too fond of copper since it easily oxidized in contact with skin/sweat and stains clothing and such. This does however vary from person to person.
On another note bracelets like this can be found in retail stores here and there.

Indeed, I was thinking the same thing with the copper noted in the deviation. Perhaps the band itself could be found in a retail store while the busts of the sonas' are cast separate :> A solution possibly to the copper is perhaps red-gold, though I've never worked with it in person, I know its some % copper and some % gold, but I'm not sure if it also has oxidation issues like straight up copper does..Hmm...

I don't think red gold is feasible cost wise. Even in a red gold alloy it is still a lot that you'll need money wise.
I would rather use a wax rod shape it and then hollow it out by cutting it length wise and then resoldering it.
As far as I know every alloy that has a metal in it that readily bonds with oxygen oxidises even stainless steel. Red gold, 18 carat, in the simplest is 1/3 copper/gold for high red colour. And for 14 carat red gold you need 41/59 copper/gold. If you want I still got a list for a couple of gold colours, including green. I haven't tried many of them though.
