Description
The full (and final) version of the quad/non-anthro ref sheet for my Lunacorn char, as drawn by the amazingly talented and kind Shadowwolf . Shaddie drew her to be just as beautiful, dainty and elegant as I imagine her to look...Needless to say, I absolutely loooooooooove this pic!PLEASE NOTE: My Lunacorn char has no connection with either the "Lunacorn" toy from the "Penguins of Madagascar" or "Princess Luna" from "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", and my Lunacorn predates both of them by several years anyway.

Can you inform me on permission issues? I would love to draw this.

What sort of permission issues do you mean? She is my own personal char, so I don't allow others to roleplay or draw her for their own use/purposes (unless I commission them to draw her, or they wish to do giftart).

Ah, ok...and thank you. <3 I don't mind people drawing her, as long as they understand she is "me" (and very special/personal to me).

Oh I thought she was a kirin because of the deer features....Why do I get the vibe that these creatures may have existed at some point or another.

I think they did, and are now extinct, as so many of the ancient cultures have references to them.

Same thing with dragons.....Mythology is strange

Yep, I think dragons were just the dwindling remnants of dinosaurs, one that managed to linger up until the age of mankind (perhaps something large like our modern-day crocodiles or komodo dragons), but which is now extinct, so all we have left of them is their legends, as told by ancient folktales (which often exaggerated the details). Of course, if any ancient man happened to find the fossil skeleton of a really huge dinosaur, you can just imagine what they might have thought of it, and how that would become a dragon in their mind!

That doesn't explain the ability to fly or the fire breath tho lol

True, but I think that legend came from the Book of Job, since Leviathan was said to breathe fire (see verses 18-21 here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviatha⦠), so I guess folks then came to believe that all "dragons" did so? I don't believe Leviathan was a whale though, since it was said to have huge, interlocking scales. It was probably a Mosasaurus or some giant, now-extinct crocodile.

But the legend of dragons have been around for much longer (way longer) than the bible. As well as the legend of phoenixes and unicorns. While I am a logical person (Had straight A's in ALL of my science classes) I do recognize that there HAD to be something. We can't just chalk it up to imagination when many cultures had the same idea at different time lines. Like the Deluge and the supposedly "Nazi" symbol (which dates back thousands of years and can be found ALL over the world in plenty of cultures that, again, supposedly shouldn't have or probably didn't meet.)Β
Take it as you may. We know the air exists because we feel it. If we didn't feel it would it still exist. The problem with science is that it studies what is there at the moment an that's it. Quantum Physics realizes that there's more to "reality" then what we feel, see, taste, smell or hear. After all, what we perceive as reality is only electric signals in our heads. Would reality exist if we lacked all our senses?
Imagination is REALLY powerful. Quantum physics has proved it you just don't know because they don't teach quantum physics in schools. They should really start. It isn't all that complicated.

Oh yes, I know that dragons are much older than the bible; they were just mentioned as breathing fire in the bible (not sure if that was the first mention of it, though, but I think that's possibly when the idea "caught on" mainstream, as Christianity spread across the globe back in the Middle Ages). Phoenixes and unicorns are also far older, but they were mentioned in the bible as well.
And yes, I agree that there must be a reason that all these unrelated, far-spread cultures have the same legends about these creatures, and the same stories, like the Deluge (which I believe in), and I don't think it's only because of the nomadic tribes swapping stories with other tribes as they moved around (or conquered other lands). I think some of these creatures actually existed, in some form or other, but probably in a much more mundane form than we imagine them to be today (like fire-breathing dragons simply being dinosaurs).
But of course, who living back in those days would believe the stories of all the bizarre, monstrous, bioluminescent creatures living in the depths of the ocean? They would all think such creatures to be purely imaginary, just as people today think that the Loch Ness Monster and Big Foot are (along with anything else they deem to be "mythical"), simply because they've never seen physical proof of them...but I am not so close-minded as that (and besides, I'm a cryptozoology freak, lol). Most people will ALWAYS require physical proof before they will believe what scientists and explorers have discovered, and until they have proof, they will just stubbornly continue to call it "myth and magic". (People of the past didn't want to believe in the dodo, the gorilla, the giraffe, the okapi, and several other creatures that we are completely familiar with today.)

Likewise, so many of the mythical creatures from heraldry were simply exotic animals that artists had not seen first-hand, but only had described to them by explorers and naturalists, and they drew them in fanciful ways. Also, I do happen to be very religious myself (which in no way contradicts Quantum Physics, or vice versa, IMO), so I have no problem with believing in things that have no physical "proof" of existence, and believing that there is much more to reality (as in, infinite layers more) than our own senses can detect.
So there could very well be "mythical" creatures still alive and well in other dimensions, and maybe some people actually caught a glimpse of them from time to time (or of fairies, ghosts, angels, demons, aliens or whatever), whenever the boundaries of those dimensions happened to overlap and merge with ours for a moment. Or perhaps these other dimensions are always parallel to and overlapping ours, but only a few people with heightened senses can even detect it...who knows?

She's very pretty. <3 Usually I don't like characters with lots of pink in them, but then again, most pink-ish characters are waaaaaaay over the top. XI This one is just nice and pretty, though, and not too overdone~ I think it's wonderful!
