Description
I was commissioned to do a vectored stag logo by an organization named "AAHUU" (which translates to "deer" and also sounds like a wolf's howl, thus the pawprint), so I drew up this concept sketch for them to approve, and then never heard back from them. It's occurances like THIS that have forced me to require payment for commissions up front (at least half), because then I don't get the short end of the stick after doing the work. And it IS a lot of work for me, because I have to spend hours gathering ref pics and then doing several rough sketches to figure out a proper pose and composition, which takes several more hours. To not get paid at all for this time and effort is to be cheated. And for all I know, the commissioner could take my sketch, give it to another artist who will work even cheaper or for free, and have them finish it up into a proper logo, so I would never get any payment nor credit for the work at all. So be careful, folks! Don't make the same mistake I did and send a concept sketch for approval before getting any payment!
