Description As requested! (By the by, I'll get to the other suggestions, too! I'm just... slow and lazy? Wait, that wasn't an excuse, that was the real reason. Dang it. I've got to get the hang of this whole obfuscation thing...)

It's huge. Really no way around that, sorry dear.

I may upload a full size picture of the finished product. Just not right now. I is so tired. o_O

Time: The Makeup itself took Sister Act + Rocky Horror Picture show up until "Tender Subject". Putting together the tutorial took the EXACT Into the Woods. Like, to the minute. Crazy.

Holy cow!!! You rock so hard! ^_^ I'm so glad you had fun, and it turned out great! You've got that 'small detail' thing down pat- most people have to work up to that. I particularly love that dark band that stretches across your forehead. It gives me a bit of inspiration of my own.

Thanks so much for sharing- it makes me so excited!

Awww Thanks. But really, I should be thanking you. If I hadn't come across your tutorial, I never would have done this. And as for the small details, I really didn't do too well with that. lol All I really did was the dots and stitches. I know you said to keep the stitches small and even, but it seemed that making them kinda uneven, and some slanted and others all pretty would look more like a rag doll. All the same, next time I do this, it'll be darker and more details. I'll send you the links if I do more

And thanks for the fav. @///////////@

It certainly looks like fun!
Question if I may ask, what do you think is the worst beginner mistake to make when it comes to this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sweetgreychaos In reply to tiger200188 [2011-05-15 19:23:46 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... well, personally my worst choices starting out was using things that weren't safe on skin, or using things that just didn't work very well, and then getting discouraged. Some people are very good at using lipsticks and eyeshadows- I am not! I needed to go with my Halloween cheapo grease paint when I couldn't afford anything else, then moved to my better Wolfe Brothers.

I think it came out great for a first try! Esp since you had to use makeup- that stuff can be unwieldy sometimes. Thank you so much for sharing!

Fantastic tutorial! And by the way, I love how you judge your time in the movies you watched while making them - a very creative quirk ^.^

Solid tutorial, Girl!
Thank you for posting it....

Have you had a chance to play with Diamond FX colors?
They have a slightly different feel than Wolfe FX, but I adore their pastel colors...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sweetgreychaos In reply to Battledress [2010-07-27 18:44:20 +0000 UTC]

Ooh, no, I haven't, but I do adore a good pastel. I need to find a good metallic set, too- any recommendations?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Battledress In reply to sweetgreychaos [2010-07-27 19:13:56 +0000 UTC]

The Diamond Pastels aren't "baby colors" - but rich shades of pumpkin, lavender, terra cotta, steel gray, sage green.... I just love them.

My favorite metallics right now are from Wolfe FX. They're hard to top!

sweetgreychaos In reply to Battledress [2010-07-28 09:53:09 +0000 UTC]

^_^ Thanks! I'll have to try them. I've been stalling getting new paints, but a good endorsement helps!

Battledress In reply to sweetgreychaos [2010-07-28 16:11:17 +0000 UTC]

Are you familiar with the split cakes?
You can load your brush with multi-colors at one time.
They're not my cup of tea, but you might have a ball with them....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sweetgreychaos In reply to Battledress [2010-07-29 08:05:48 +0000 UTC]

I don't have a set of my own, but I've tried them. My first reaction was that I wouldn't have a lot of use for them, but they did have a few neat applications.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Battledress In reply to sweetgreychaos [2010-07-29 16:09:55 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you're aware of them.
Some people really do well with them.

Me - I'll stick to airbrush!
