Description
I can't believe there is hardly any art of the fabled "Fearsome Lizard Women of Mongo" from the 1978 Animation cartoon. "The New Adventures of Flash Gordon"... At least I never found any back in 2008 when I drew this. And you know me, I'm all for scantly-clad reptile girls...
This is the beginning of a new adult comic (hopefully), telling the (not really uneventfull) first day of Zizzy, a new recruit amongst Ming's slave guards. Zizzy is the epitome of naivity, she's totally naive and innocent (hence the horrendous pink she wears and I couldn't resist the Hello Kitty T-shirt...
And yeah, Ming is an old pervert. All her female guards, not to mention her own daughter Aura, wear such revealing outfits that you gotta wonder how it got tolerated in a saturday morning cartoon for kids...

great upload. These Lizard Women are the best thing to come out of Flash Gordon in my opinion. The animators knew how to draw them and the skimpy outfits made them look cuter. I also love how they wore mascara and had long eyelashes. Made them appear more feminine.

Agreed! The show has lot of sexy characters, but I always loved these gals the best. I guess Ming made skimpy outfits mandatory for all his female warriors.
And yeah, the eyelashes and eyeshadow really enhances their look. Still feel Flash did not know what he was missing when he spurned one of them who was coming on to him.

I've never seen these female reptiles before. Let
me guess, they're bad girls?

Check the second half of this episode... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa6j_T…
Yes, they are sadly mostly enemies. Though I suppose they are as much slaves to Ming as everyone else, they are more loyal to him. No wonder he has at least two such gals in his harem...

Oh, great. Every villain is a reptile, I always
say.

Yeah! Or chinese, like Ming the Merciless. Heck, the nineties Flash Gordon show (that turned the heroes into teenagers and Thun into Thundra, a female) even turned Ming and most of his people into scaly humanoids too. I hate this "reptiles are abhorrent" trope.
But eh, who cares as long as it gave us such sexy lizard guards. I would not mind being under their watch, even if as a slave...

Well, to be honest, I fed up
with creators making bad guys
out of every reptilian characters.
That makes me sick! It's definitely
a poor balance. They have to make
any reptilian characters as heroes
from now on. Otherwise I'll have
to make one myself.

I am sure he'd love to meet these gals.

A change of outfit does make the lizard woman! But for the "Hello Kitty" logo, new girl in pink has an '80's era feel to her?

She is a rather bubbly, airhead-type... She does not even realize she is actually working as a slave driver, she just think she has to walk around with a whip and shout at people.

Nice work here. Those lizard women are strangely cute. Or at least that's what I think of them anyway. I can only imagine what work must be like for them. And also, don't you miss the days when TV shows featured characters with questionable attires? Cuz for me, that may be retro and old-school. But its refreshing as all hell.

I miss those days all the time, but they seem to be coming back... at least in some shows, like the new Green lantern, Young Justice, or Thundercats. (In anime, those days never went away and actually, women wear even less now there).
I plan to make this a longer ongoing comic, showing the incarceration and escape of Flash and Thun from the POV of the guards... for whom this is just a job. And some don't even have any malice towards the prisoners. I like to think of stories from the POV of the villains, or the unfortunate hi-then-die minions. They need love, too...
On a side note, I just drew a lizard woman from this series - dressed as Cheren from the new Conan the Barbarian movie. (If you don't know who she is... no wonder, she was very underused - she was that archer woman in Talar Singh's army who had a the interesting attire with the leather straps and the odd helmet that covers one of her eyes).
