I know all too well the wrath of my little Rocco pomer-man if I came in too late than expected at night, or if he saw a stranger at the door. They've been bred down to be more convenient Spitz, yes, but breeders couldn't totally take the Spitz outta deh Spitz. Poms still THINK they're effin' huge.

Rocco has a run in with a bird in the backyard once that looked mostly similar to this picture. He didn't eat it, as we had expected, he just tore the poor thing apart so badly we didn't even know what kind of bird it was anymore.
Since then, he assumes all birds are bad, catchable, and shreddable. Including the hawk my mother has spotted circling lately that's looking for rabbits.
...We're almost positive it's just thinking Rocco is a very noisy rabbit, lol.

Tell me about little dogs keeping the nature of their larger ancestors. Italian Greyhounds were bred to be nothing but dainty little lapdogs for centuries, but their chase-down-and-kill instincts are very much in place. The first time my dog ever saw a rat in her life, she went crazy and started yelling and scrabbling and jumping at it. I've never seen her react like that to anything ever, and I could tell she wanted to rip that thing to shreds. o_O

oh wow, hawk vs. Pomeranian. That's cool that you have hawks, though, incidentally. xD I like Poms myself, but that might be partly out of sympathy for everyone seeming to either hate them or look at them with scorn for being a "little foofoo dog". All the Poms I've ever met were lovely, but of course I do have the owners to thank for that.

(also omg thanks for the watch and all the lovely comments <3333)

I hope it never actually comes down to Hawk vs. Pomeranian, however. I'd like the Hawk to remain, eating his bunnies and squirrels, and leave my yappy-bunny alone.

So far, they've gone a whole year since its arrival without clashing yet. My mother just lets Rocco in VERY QUICKLY after he's done doing his backyard business, lol.

And admittingly, um...

...my stepfather being a retired cop, and my having a love for german shepherds, and we all had a mutual agreement that she's either get a full german shep from the shelter or a mix...um...

...when my mother came back from the pound with a Pomeranian, we were NOT pleased. And we were MISERABLE.
We called him 'Football' for about three weeks, because to us, that's what he amounted to.

And then, after a long period of not making any noise, he started to bark. And honk. And be lively. And HONK and BARK and OMGWHATISTHAT
NOISECOMINGOUTOFHISFACE?!

We discovered he had a collapsed trachea problem, where he makes goose-honks when he's excited mixed in with his barks, and it interferes with his breathing when he's feeling hyper but otherwise does not cause pain or harm. Eventually, it could do harm when he's much older, but as of right now, he's only four, and we've no problems yet.

Me 'n my stepdad ended up falling in love with him because of all the interesting little noises he makes, and because, well, everybody goes through that tough beginning period with a new dog. Both Dog and Man are uncertain of each other, and then Rocco got amazingly bouncy and ohmygoodness, exposed to his joy towards all aspects of life in general, I doubt I'll ever run into a more positive-thinking, lively breed. He's so excitable, courageous, and he charges head on into ANYTHING.

We THOUGHT he was a foofoo dog, but he taught us, and continues to, that he is everything BUT foofoo. He also HATES to be bathed and brushed, lol.

Consequently also, he trumped my love for other kinds of dog, I am a HUGE Pom fan now, and my fursona is a squirreldog, one part squirrel with ruby eyes that occurs in some rodents, one part pom. Depending on the situation, my fursona can switch between either a squirrel OR a pom, but the markings are the same.
Lol, the head's in my avatar.

Jeez, I shouldn't be rambling like this in your comments. I'll stop. >.> But you're fun to talk to! You're so nice! And I don't see many good artists like yourself actually respond to comments, often.

You seem really nice too! And pshaw, I know of several wonderful artists that are really friendly as well! I'd be glad to link you to them. :3

Really? o_o To be honest, it's one of the best pencil animations I've ever seen.. You must have the patience of a saint; doing a quick digital animation can be killer for me. Lulz, you should be affectionate.. : D It's amazering~~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

swift-whippet In reply to toastify [2007-11-08 01:09:05 +0000 UTC]

pencil is easier than digital, imho. there's more control over how you want it to look. at least for me. and I have tried both.

thanks again ^^

aw man. it was animation school that taught me that loosening up is gooooooood. seriously. the rougher and freer, the better! since that is when you start to 'draw by feel' instead of being nitpicky about your drawings, and as such they become more 'alive'. it's apparently an established technique of sorts, and it really does work for me!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

toastify In reply to swift-whippet [2007-11-09 19:27:02 +0000 UTC]

Really? xDD Lawl, but it gets so messy looking.. I'd at least do a clean run with it. Lulz, it must be a digital thing, then.. you can add new frames so quickly that you start scribbling just to be done with that little motion already. xDD

LMFAO. I love her expression. I can picture a few real life poms doing that. >__> Namely Cinnamon, my neighbor's pom. (it's worse than an attack dog)

I admit, I have kicked little dogs before. Foxy, Phil's brother's Pomeranian, because she was acting like a brat to Lady. (I didn't KICK her kick her, I more like put my foot under her belly and lifted her off the ground and flung her away)

Foxy got her revenge though. Lady was beating up Foxy one day, and Phil's grandma kicked Lady a few feet. Lady wasn't hurt, and it WAS kinda funny seeing this little old lady kick a fluffy white dog.

...and I kicked this little black and white chi that attacked my leg when I was walking. I thought it was a skunk, I swear. o___o

I can't ever recall kicking a kitten. o__0 Heh.

aash, you were justified in both cases. I wish people would train their small dogs better and not assume that they don't need good training just because of their size. >_>;
