Description ...they called it prickly love.

a still from my senior year animated short film, both in colour and in black and white. I'm REALLY happy with how it turned out, and that's got me all fired up again to work on my thesis. whooo!

Aw thanks so much! Do you mean more with these characters or more animations in general? I probably won't do anything more with these characters (though they may make cameos in future projects) but I will DEFINITELY be posting more animation. Man, the difference between the b/w and the colour is so cool - I always love that, and the way it still works so well in b/w is even more cool. I wanna try doing something like that. But what I really love is how this looks like it's from a real animation, like, one I've seen at a movie theatre or something. The way it's shaded with the smooth lines and the soft backround, just looks so... professional.

And the pangolin is effin' adorable to boot. xD

I'm not sure if this has been already asked. But is Labu already a fan of Durians or will this end in tragedy once that thing pops open and she gets a big whiff. (Or if she doesn't mind the first stage get disappointed by the taste?) But then again the "Prickly Love" is probably from their similar textures, and she doesn't know it's supposed to be edible at all.

It would be nice to see this thesis after you've shown it to your classmates. Since I'm also curious on how the other characters fit into the big picture.

You probably heard right (as far as the West's opinion goes), though it is much loved in my country and the surrounding areas and always makes me think of home. It's an acquired taste to be sure. I don't care for the taste (too sweet and strong) but I don't mind the smell at all thanks to growing up with it in the house.

Not to sound discouraging or anything but dont Pangolins have armored shells..kinda of like armidillos? I mean it is awesome that you are draing Pangolins cause you NEVER seen them anywheres and I do give you a HUGE thumbs up for bringing up a rare species.. but I know them as "scaly" critters (cause theyre not true scales and all) but thats just my 2 cents...

otherwise I really like this and as I said before using Pangolins =AWESOMENESS!

I'm glad you like it and I fully understand your point. However you have to understand that I will be animating this and will have to draw this character A LOT, over and over again, to make her move. Thus her design had to be simplified to make it workable in animation. She still has those overlapping plates that her species has, I just choose not to draw in every single one. xD

I agree with you..you did a great job on the anatomy I can understand your need for simplicity in the case that you will be drawing it over and over and all those 'scales' would be hard.. Thanks for the response and keep up the good work!

PFFT what is this taking away of the color in the second? If you ask me it should be in NEGATIVE or really awesome colours to match the picture's awesomeness because this pangolin dude is cute as freakin' hell. Yeah, I got sick of wolves a good few years ago thanks to everyone asking me to draw their omg!!wolf! character whenever I did a trade. x_x; That and everyone would be all OMGWOLF!!!11! all over the trade picture and ignore all my characters and art. >_>; hahah.

Oh I made it black and white because I have to submit a still for the end of the year film screening booklet, and the book is printed in black and white so the stills should be too. I just thought I'd post both together.
