Description and my second-year final animation is finished! woohoo! (now I have to get cracking on the essay, projects and test-studying that I've been putting off for weeks... >>; )

but anyhow. we all had to choose a proverb from a list and run with it, and mine was originally 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread', but it just got too complicated and long so I had to switch and pare it all down still hey, I'm really happy with this, I feel like I've improved and learned a lot this year technique-wise, and the music was a last-minute addition so I'm really pleased with how that turned out too. hope everyone likes!

it pains me that you seem to think that a film needs to be coloured to be good. it is finished, as it is. Every drawing is complete unto itself, and the special beauty and looseness of pencil lines is something that is lost when a film is coloured. I enjoy watching pencilled animation, there's something very special and beautiful about it that you will never see in a movie theatre. Granted, I love polished, finished films as much as the next person, but I also love pencilled goodness. it's the same way I feel about sketching versus a coloured, cleaned-up drawing.

I'm very glad that you enjoyed it as much as you did, though

Well, honestly, I like pencilled drawings, too... but the part where the jester-duck zooms through the water where the swans are swimming is a little confusing, because nothing is opaque, everything's happening THROUGH the swan. I actually had to watch the film a couple of times through to see everything defined. All I saw was water flying in the air the first time.

So it's not necessarily that I don't like your pencil work or feel the piece lacks worthiness as it is, just that I feel coloring it would give at least that scene a little more dimension, and thus clarity.

Hope I didn't offend, I really do love the piece

Are you downloading it or did you click the link to googlevideo? because the dA one is the sucky version, I uploaded the big version with sound and everything onto google because it takes a shorter time to load (both for me to upload it and for people to view it). (AND I heard that dA is picky about videos having sound or music in them for whatever reason. copyrights, I assume.. whatever.)

there's more than 300 frames in that little movie, which means about 150 drawings, and if you think I'm wasting my summer scanning and colouring all of that, you're nuts xDDDD

Aw, thank you! It took me a good few weeks of on-and-off working on it. It's all a blur to me now, I sort of lost steam halfway through and I really hated it for a while, but now it's done I like it more the more I watch it

Aboslutely precious, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching that! You most certainly met everyone's expectations (I told you! Look at me and my precognitive abilities!!)-- you definitely met mine. The movements, my goodness, they're so smooth I can't believe it! That's my biggest thing; I can't guess how you keep the drawings so solid and unified. The characters are sweeter than sweet, too-- I love the little duckling with the jester hat-feathers. ^^ And the swans are beautiful, I loved watching them. The most impressive thing was that you were able to get an impression of the main characters' personalities even within 50 seconds. I totally adore the pleased little face of the main swan in the last part when they're all swimming in a line. Her expression really looks like she thinks the duckling's hyperness is cute. You are an awesome talent, and every element of this animation is a great example of that.

Wow, this is absolutely wonderful! Heh, I wish I had the patience to animate... Actually, this kind of inspired me; I think animating on paper would be easier than animating in photoshop (I don't have Flash), since you don't need to mess with all those icky layers... Perhaps I should work on a simple animation soon.
