Description
More FP art, whee. Anyway, I've taken it upon myself to start submitting art to the image bank, and I thought I'd start with the breeds that have the least pictures - it's actually helping the site, plus I get to challenge myself artistically..though of course, knowing me, you'll probably see some sighthounds in there sooner or later >D
Anyway. First on the list was the St. Bernard, so here's two: the smooth and rough coated varieties. I've never actually tried drawing one proper before, with photorefs and everything, so this was a nice experiment for me and I think it turned out quite well
No sticky paws!

[link] <-- It's an online dog game where you can raise, train and breed your dogs. Mind you, it's only for dog nuts like me xD
When I say dog nuts, though, I mean those who know and appreciate dogs and their care and breeding, not those whose immediate reaction to a dog is "OMG CUTE PUPPYYYY!!!! *huggle*" xD because if you're one of those types I doubt you'd stay long

Heh, when you're sitting at home all day with nothing much to do, time consuming fun things are always a pleasure

ooh so slobbery!! How do you line your pics? I try to line them on PS with my tablet and the pencil tool and it's all jittery
are my hands just shaky or somethig??
You did the bodies and jowls very good! The legs are really good too!

I've heard that the pencil tool is good cause you can use the fill tool to color in your pics, thats why I use it, cause I'm lazy But if you use the paintbrush tool then can you still use the fill bucket?????

You should still be able to use the fill bucket, you just get ugly white bits all over the pace, is all xD
I never use the fill bucket actually; I always colour by hand. I prefer it even though it's more tedious. Also my outlines and colours and shadows are all on different layers, so I have to colour everything by hand. This is more tedious than just outlining with pencil and filling in everything with the bucket of course, but it makes my art look nicer, in my opinion. A little effort does go a long way.

I always use the paintbrush tool to do my linework.. I find the pencil a bit too pixellated for my taste. Shaky hands might have something to do with it.. but that's something that can be remedied Just practice hard!
..and thanks
