Description
dumb tablet doodle/colouring experiment. I've wanted to try contrasting the two types of corgis for a while now, and I realized my dogs were veering back into generic territory when my goal was to produce more stuff like this [link] . I intend to play around with stylization and exaggeration more in future.may offer these as little commissions in future if people are interested
also there need to be more cardigan corgis everywhere, I sometimes feel like half the 'corgi lovers' out there don't realize there's more than one variety. :C

CORGIS!
I love both types. I really would have liked a Cardigan pup, but there are none to be had where I live. A blue merle male would be my dream dog. >u<
I've seen four cardigans in my whole life, but tons of pemmies. There are definitely a lot of pems everywhere.
You're right, a lot of corgi people don't know there are two different breeds. I remember one person had a cardigan corgi and they thought they had a pembroke because they didn't even know "cardigan" corgis existed. Wtf? xD The pembroke owners seem to own Pemmies because they think they are so cute and adorable and don't really know what they were bred for and what they are capable of, but Cardigan owners seem to be more aware of the heritage of the breed.
Cute artwork, love them both.

YAY! Cardis are awesome, and I would like the chance to meet one but yep, all I see are the Pems. Not that that's a problem since Pems are basically irresistible - I definitely see the appeal!
(by the way - Ruuki??)
LOL at that person, that is ridiculous xD even if you can't notice all the subtle little differences, a monkey could tell corgis apart by their tail lengths. And that makes sense too - Pems are definitely more popular as pet dogs. I suppose we have the Queen to blame for that..
Thanks

I don't think it's entirely the Queen's fault, I sort of blame something else *coughcowboybeebopcough* >.> Which I can't stand when people get corgis because of an anime and they want to call it Ein.
Anyways, welcome!

I notice a slight hint of that "cartoony" 1950s graphic style
-a little like that used by UPA.

Don't think too hard about my influences. I don't. I just know what I like and unless I'm consciously experimenting to imitate a style, I'm just drawing what I like, and everything that I think is cool-looking will be unconsciously mixed up in there somewhere. So you can play the pinpointing artistic influences game if you want, but I'd rather mix everything up and put it all into what I'm doing to make something different and personal.

Usually, when I look at an artist's work,
I tend to pick up on certain things. That's
just me.
These two are absolutely adorable, btw.

Yeah, and like I said that's fine if you want to do that, you have every right to. but in this case I wasn't really trying to channel any style in particular but rather try to come up with a style that's unique and personal. In general I just don't really like being compared to anyone else unless I'm consciously paying homage or trying on a style for size. And that's just my own preference
I'm glad you like. These guys were fun to do.

We get more pembrokes at work, in fact I don't think we have a single cardi. They all tend to the neurotic, and often run in circles back in the run (or out of the run...) but they're still so squishy and cute. Shed like mad though, which is probably the worst thing about a corgi. xD
I would loooove to have ones like this of my kids. I am sure that other people would love to as well! If they're easy for you to do and you enjoy them, I don't see why you shouldn't offer them as comms in the future.

Pembrokes are definitely more in the public eye, I feel, I don't think I've ever seen a Cardi walking around the streets of NY but there have been Pems galore. I can definitely see the appeal, though.
Yeah was thinking that people would enjoy stuff like this! Thanks KC Maybe eventually once I get all this employment bullcrap sorted out.

I think I just died of cute. *checks pulse*
Really, Swifty, I love this new style! As usual you make it look graceful and easy. *grin* Nice work. I know there are cardigan corgis out there, but I can't help it. I love me some little pembrokes. :3

My aunt had a welsh corgi named Corki. I loved him. Even though he humped everything. xD
This reminds me of pixar.
You know, Bolt!

Bolt wasn't a Pixar movie, it was a Disney one. I can understand how it might remind you of the concept art, but I'd really prefer not to be compared to Disney/Pixar thanks C: β₯

man swifty <3 I should upload a photo of my old man corgi/sausage/cattledog. He looks like a fat fox with floppy ears and a roman nose. So many exaggerated features! I wish I could do that half as well as you x3 cartooning was never my forte'
Lovely work! Love da corgis!

Thanks Holly!! pfff, but I'm not nearly so patient with musculature and anatomy as you are. β₯ I'm trying to practice my caricature skills with dogs, human faces are not familiar enough territory yet. One of my friends suggested I do some tshirt designs in this vein and I think I shall! I'd love to see a picture of your doggie too.

I can't help it. I think it might be a type of disease or maybe an allergy. xD I def need to go to Meet the Breeds this year... Hey! Well... yeeeah... that sounds like something I would do. Then I would end up on some mastiff farm/ranch place and plan a coupe with the puppydogs. Bwahahaha!!!
