Just some little things for some certain people. :3Pristine
The wonderful Pristine! Such a simple yet elegant character. :3 I've known Pristine for quite a bit now and I'm glad for it, she's a really nice person and I think her art is lovely. It'll be great being able to talk and RP with you more once Ryvarda and such open. And I'm really sorry if I was a bit snappish to you recently, sweets, ugh. x.x;
Gecko
I just met Toasti/Gecko fairly recently, but so far we've been getting along quite well and having madcrazy comment discussion things. xD She's so much fun! And it's nice to meet someone who's on the same page as me for a lot of things too. :3 Gecko is so bloody complicated to colour, but I enjoyed drawing her nonetheless.
Nish
KW is another new friend and one who shares my whippet love! xD Thank you for all the lovely conversation and comments, and naturally I think Nish is quite beautiful. ;D I hope we become better friends in future.

Lol, I've been here, there, about and everywhere. I weaned myself from the computer a few months ago and really just let everything go cold turkey. Meanwhile we've got three 8 week old farm pups that need eyes on them most of the time as well as school and a few other things going on. I haven't roleplayed in months! Let alone tried my hand with ms paint in a while. I decided to come on and see how many deviations I'd piled up .

Ouch. XD Gecko looks like she was terrifying to do. Reminds me of my friend's character except WAY WORSE lol. XD I really like her pose and expression though, it's really interesting, sort of like she's yawning but kinda saying 'WHADDYAWANTDAMNIT' at the same time. X3 The shading on her is really nice, and I love how you blended the colours on her forelegs.
Pristine looks nice too, I love the general feel about her. You did her dress well (Cloth is a nightmare. >_<
Nish's markings are really, really cool. 83 I love the pose, the shading's awesome, BUT HOWEVER look at his/her right foreleg- it seems to connect to the main body in a very odd place, as if like right at the chest rather than further in. Although that could just be more.
Nonetheless, I really like these pictures. ^^ I love the glow you put around the edges and your choice of text. ^^ Great job!

Gecko was so much fun to do though! She and her crazy design intimidated me at first but when I got into colouring her it turned out to be a great deal of fun. :3 And yes open mouths are yay.
That's a stylistic thing. I try to draw my anthros' hands like paws, so they tend to be short and roundish. :3 I agree about shine on nose, I tend to forget little things like that at the last minute. xD;
As far as whippet anatomy is concerned, observe the chest/shoulder/foreleg relationship in these pictures: [link] [link] I may have pushed her foreleg out a bit more than they show, but they do really look like that. I haven't been studying and observing the anatomy on these dogs for years for nothing!

I wasn't really complaining, just kinda making an observation I suppose... -Looks at her comment- Granted, the way I said it it did sound like critique. Yeah, me too. XD That's why I suppose last-minute checkups are important. X3
Mmm, I wouldn't know, I've never had ANY kind of dog. ;_; And it's unlikely I ever will unless I make some money once I hit working age. XD Granted, I think the other thing that might be iffy about her foreleg is the fact that not necessarily it sticks out so far... it might be because it seems to be positioned somewhat 'higher' than the other foreleg, as if it's not really touching the ground? Meh, it could be just me.

Oh no, I think it's good that you say what you feel about a picture. Not many people are willing to do that. At the same time it is good to observe things before you crit, since as far as my own art is concerned you tend to point out stylistic things, or things that I'm quite sure I am doing right (not to give myself too much credit, but yes). The other thing you pointed out, for example, that Pristine's tail looks too short: she is sitting on her butt, and she is turned to us at a 3/4 view. Her tail is thus actually twice the length you can see sticking out behind her, it's just that part of it is hidden by her body.
In that case, good thing to look at some anatomy before you crit, eh? 
If you consider the angle at which I drew Nish you'll see that it's a 3/4 view and slightly above. That's why I drew it at that angle. :3

fweeee I am so glad you like what I did with her. Gecko is such a fun character. I don't normally like characters in that 'style' because I think a lot of people overdo the designs rather, but Gecko has enough on her to be interesting -- and every single marking means something too! I read her ref like a novel -- and yet she remains pleasing to the eye, at least imho. :3

Okay, when I clicked on this deviation I could only see the first two characters on my screen at first. Then I full viewed it and scrolled down and was like, Wha? That looks like... N-N-NISH?? HUH???
So omg OMG OMG!!! AHH SWIFT!!! =^___________________________^= Jeez, I didn't expect this at all!! You are too too sweet, thank you so so SO much!!! (It's a good thing you're not around in RL 'cuz I'd be squeezing the begeebees out of ya! x-D)
Now not to leave out the others you have drawn, LOL. Pristine is such an elegant-looking character, very pretty. And wow Gecko is just crazy-cool looking, that's one heck of a design! Awesome job on 'em as well!

Oh psh I could tell that it was that colour no problems! You made it clearly the darker green and put the brindle stripes on it too. One tip I could give you though is don't shade references - you risk people mistaking shading for markings. That's why I never shade mine anyway. Or I've seen some people put one shaded picture and make separate simple little diagrams for the markings. I'd also do both sides so it's clear where the brindle on her leg starts and stops. Refs are exactly that - references, so clarity is key. Even though I do try to make them aesthetically pleasing, my refs are not art, and that's why I don't put them up on dA anymore.
Bah, rambled about refs. Anyway short version is that you are awesome and Nish is awesome and I hope to see more of both of you.

I've never really made a real reference sheet for a character. But I think now I am going to draw the other side of her to show the leg marking and such, and add a bit more details. That means a lot you can tell something about the personalities just by looking. It's the vibe I get from each of these artists just by talking to them, I guess. And Gecko's design was just so fun and crazy that she just seemed like that kind of a character!

D'aaawwww! *blush* You did such a great job on Pristine! I love the pose and the calm, welcoming look on her face. I always love seeing you do anthro work
I think my favorite of the three is Nish, though; as others have said, Gecko's expression is fabulous (I love how you got the hair/mane to look so natural on a wolf!), but it's Nish's stripe-paint colorings (I forget what that's called... brindle? I'm sure I'm wrong) are pulled off so naturally. She's green but she looks absolutely realistic despite.

xD honestly, I don't know what species exactly Gecko is, but I have to say I didn't model her on a wolf. They're heavier-built, not so sleek and slender as that. I was going for a more foxish or jackal-ish look for her since they some across as more devious to me, and that was something that I wanted to put into her. :3 Pristine I did model after a wolf since you describe her as wolflike, so you can compare the differences between the two faces. The hair thing is fun though since it's not something that I draw on my own characters! and YES Nish's stripey pattern is called brindle. Thank you so much, I am happy that they come across as natural! (all comes from ogling a billion whippet photos, I guess... xD)
