*is FINALLY getting cracking on enormous pile of trades and gifts*

I'm so happy with this :3 My half of a tradepic with ~Nulde of her gorgeous whippet character, Rose. I've drawn Rose before but naturally I was only too happy to draw her again. Hope you like what I did with her, Nulde! (and hope that everything is alright for you at home.. take all the time you need with my half.)

This was rather experimental, for me. My problem these days is I have absolutely no idea what to do with people's characters in art trades and things. Same old generic poses, same old boring abstract backgrounds, same old same old Swift crap. I was getting bored with myself. And stagnation generally means that I have to do something new with myself that's a step upwards. So since sighthounds are my muses (and Rose has a nice simple design; the only thing I really needed her ref sheet for was her colours and the finer points of hermarkings) I doodled up a bunch of whipp sketches that I could maybe use while bored at work, and I really like how this one came out ^^ I used the actual pencil lineart because I love the raw quality of it.

Then I got stuck as to what to do with her. As I was colouring, though, I was randomly humming the (rawkin') Gavin DeGraw song, 'Don't Want To Be', and I thought as I coloured that the song kinda fit her expression and mid-run pose. Sort of like she was just flying along without a care for anyone or anything else. So I put the lyrics in and it was like "hmm, that actually looks good." And then... FLYING. hmmm. So poof, in comes the sky background.. and I think the whole picture fits the song even better. whoo. Then I started playing around with the font effects and motion blur, which I hadn't really dabbled with before, and I'm really satisfied with the results I think I shall start listening to more songs while drawing. (if you actually read all this, chocolate chip sundaes and love to you. <3)

For those of you who aren't interested in what goes into each picture of mine and just skipped my long ramblings altogether, enjoy the pretty picture of a pretty whippet running through the sky. the end.
