another variation on the 'headshots of the same breed' theme I did here ; of course I couldn't resist my favourite breed as the subject!
and I did want a chance to include =therevolutionbegins 's Mask and ~Taintedkitten 's Celeste since I hadn't drawn them in my previous dA whippet tribute and I love seeing new whippet characters anyhow and these two had lovely markings and colours. This picture started with those two and Swift, and basically exploded (hence the title). again, I guess it was also an experiment with trying to show variation in character design within a particular breed, which I've actually been playing around with for a while already but never to this extent.(I had to include Azzy and Rose even though ~Cerzz and ~Nulde haven't been seen here in months because I miss them. D': )

Mask looks just edible.. The foreshortening on the yellow one's (can't find the name.. x.o *Brick'd*) makes me giddy (I cannottt foreshorten wolf muzzles, lawl~).. And Swifty looks so happy, arghgh~~ 8DD *Fallsover*

and foreshortening is difficult, no shame in that. I'm not good at it sometimes. but that just means PRACTICE. I'm sure you'd get better at it if you tried.

Argh, yeah.. xDD I've tried art books for basic techniques, but it seems like the only advice they'll give you is "things closer get bigger. things farther away get smaller." and the perspective-box technique (forlike.. whole bodies. xD Not little things like muzzles.) is way beyond my two-dimensional little head. D8

you obviously have no idea about placement of characters, you put the ones with similar colours side by side. you could have had a whole colourwheel balancing complementary thing going on here, but you blew it. that's what you get for drawing randomly without taking colour into consideration. it's all full of weird tangents like Swift there eating Celeste's bandanna, and the whole thing looks like it's about to topple over because you're way too precious with keeping each individual face intact, so you won't ever start over and do them all over again even though the final composition is unstable.

Crookedness can be a good thing in art. Some people are annoyed by it and like everything perfectly straight but I like the unsteady feeling it gives. That's one reason why this image is different from your other ones. That's why I like it! :3 And the same colors in the same spots don't bother me. Maybe instead of just a plain green background you could add purple here and red there to even it out.
