Description Enter a Dark Beginning

The island wasn’t too far from the mainland, so they managed to sail there in no time at all. Though, after the treacherous path through the mountains, Alenandron wasn’t sure anything else could faze them from there to the temple.
The company soon found themselves on what seemed to be a rather rock isle that had a thick, dark, smoke-like fog hovering over the ground. They climbed though up the slope and ended up facing a small fortress.
“You’d think it’d be a bit bigger considering the ‘temple of shadow’ and all . . .” said Alen.
“Not really, it doesn’t have to be immense or anything to of any worth.” whispered Arelstacia.
“Of course there might be a labyrinth of tunnels underneath it.” interjected Ralenmere.
The group continued on. Alen looked down at the sinister mist swirling about his feet. His first thought was that it was smoke, but smoke rose into the air. Whatever this was lingered menacingly about a foot deep to the ground. It swirled and swooped around their moving feet like a poisonous gas. The rest of the air was oddly humid for the region and exceedingly dark. Clouds filled the sky as far as the eye could see. There was a slight blueish-green glow everywhere they looked. On the opposite side of the island, high mountains scraped the skies, but no plant or animal was in sight.
“This place gives me the creeps . . .” Arelstacia said wish a shiver, pulling her soft pink cloak tightly around her.
“Don’t be so pathetic.” said Alen. He was actually quite impressed with the mysterious atmosphere. He could really get used to this, being a follower of darkness in the first place. His dark eyes scanned the area through his mess of murky, black hair. His pale face smirked at Arsit’s pitiable dread of darkness.
They had gone so far in that it was getting a bit harder to make out each others’ forms in the shadows. It seemed like deep night, though it couldn’t have been . . . they had only just gotten there around midday.
                “It’s really dark . . .” whispered Lynaldriel fearfully.
“Of course it is dear, we’re in the shade of the temple of shadow.” Said Ildri in an almost sympathetic sort way as she patted Lynn comfortingly on the back.
Alen rolled his eyes at the juvenile. Just this morning she had been bouncing off the walls. She had the most peculiar mood swings.
The party finally reached the doors of the fortress. Raleye, being ‘head of the group’ apparently, lifted the large griffon-head knocker, and let of fall with a thunderous clang. They waited. . . Nothing happened.
“Well, let’s just break in then.” Suggested Alen.
                “Are you insane?” exclaimed Arelstacia.
“Well we have to get in somehow.” Said Ildri.
“We can’t, what if the priestess gets wind of it?!” Arsit fumed, “It’d be an awfully idiotic thing to do to get her furious at us! She’s the only one who can command it!”
“Well if we do this right, we just might be able to.” Said Alen deviously.
“And just what do suggest we do?” said Arelstacia incredulously.
“Will you two stop it! I’m tired of your constant bickering.” Interrupted Raleye.
The two stood in silent rage.
“Well . . . is the door unlocked?” asked Ildri.
Raleye shoved the door, which swung open with a slow creaking.
“Hey, the door is unlocked, so if we go in, then she can’t really blame us if her security is lax.” Said Alenandron.
“Yes she can! We don’t have to just walk right in.” snapped Arelstacia.
“I vote we go in and find out then, shall we?” said Alen.
“Better than staying out here ‘til someone comes.” Stated Ildri.
“But what if something terrible is in there?” squeaked Lynn, “What if the reason no one came is because they were killed by some gigantic snake? Or a big hairy spider, or—”
“Lynn, relax. There isn’t going to be anything in there that wants to eat you or something. Okay? Just chill.” Ildri attempted to calm her down.
“And if there is, Raleye will kill it dead long before it gets anywhere near you, dear.” Said Arsit in a far more caring tone from what she had been using with Alen.
Lynn took a few deep breaths. Arelstacia wrapped her arms around the young adolescent in a motherly way.
“Okay, let’s go.” Said Ildri as she walked in.
The others followed (Arsit a bit reluctantly) into a vast, gloomy, and almost completely dark corridor . . . . . . .
