Whee, a pencil portrait. I haven't done one of these in... *checks* five years, maan. I think I rather missed it! Anyway, tis my favorite character, Javert, based mostly on the descriptions in the book of Les Miserables, with a little of the musical thrown in because I love long hair. *cough*

I was surprised by the book; I have a kind of love-hate relationship with nineteenth-century literature, but it was remarkably readable and interesting, though I must say after starting with the e-text unabridged version, I came to appreciate the abridged one, although I missed some of the details that were also cut out. Well, you can't have it all, unfortunately...

Anyway! I'm rather pleased with the picture. At first it was impossible to get it to look the way I was picturing it, but suddenly it came together, and blammo! I was just barely able to get it to fit onto the scanner in one piece, too. (Some of the bottom got cropped off.) I'm used to being able to scan pictures in pieces since I'm just going to ink over it all on the computer. Oh well!
