After several more minutes, the hosing and scrubbing stopped. Gordon opened one eye, but shut it quickly, hoping it was just the irritation from the soap playing tricks on his vision, but he cracked his stinging eyes open one more time and saw Sir Topham Hatt standing before him. "Now wake up, Gordon, and listen to me!" He began. "And stop crying, it's rather unsightly." He continued, thinking Gordon was crying tears of anger at him. Gordon wanted to correct him, but couldn't get a word in edgewise, nor did he wish to with the mood Sir Topham Hatt was in with him. "You will pull no more coaches until you're a really useful engine. If you thought that by causing an accident you could get out of pulling trucks, then I must regretfully inform you that you are mistaken."
