Later that day, Thomas was shunting trucks in the yard for James' goods train, and the little engine had a cheeky idea.

"I'll sneak up behind him and show him what being seen and heard is all about!" He whispered to the trucks. James was waiting on a nearby siding taking on water when Thomas biffed into some trucks, rolled alongside him, blasted his whistle, and wheeshed steam all at the same time.

"PEEEEEEEPEEEPEEEP!!!!!!!!" James did get quite a fright, which Thomas saw on his face for just a split second, but then there was trouble. Thomas and the tucks had picked up too much speed to slow down in time before they hit the buffers. The driver saw this and slammed on the brakes, but it was too late! Thomas and the trucks crashed through the buffers, coming off the rails.
