Reference sheet of Shade in anthro form. That's all really. ^_^The sketches have been hanging about for a while, composited them together into this because a. my computer is more or less working at the moment, b. I can't seem to draw him consistently, especially his shoes, so this is flipping well what they're going to look like from now on, and c. I needed something to pad out my interview portfolio with and this was juuuuust far enough removed from Sonic style to sneak in.
Oh, and Shade- or at least the basic idea behind him- has been around since 1997. That's ten years of plotholes! XD So perhaps I'll be lazy and call it an anniversary pic...? <.<
The phoenix badge on his jacket was ~feniiku 's idea by the way, I just couldn't resist usng it too ^_^

First off, this looks AMAZING! But what I want to say is that I'm an Industrial designer (I make gadgets look cool) in college and I am entering a pair of shades, inspired by Shade's glasses, into a design competition for Shred Optics. If my/your design wins, then it will be developed and manufactured by the company and sold in sports stores around the world. If this does happen, you will receive credit for the original inspiration. The shades have been redesigned to fit technical requirements for the target audience. I just want to thank you for the inspiration and to ask you if you could sketch up some alternative designs and color schemes. The picture of the shades is on my page (aside from this, I haven't updated it in ages, so it's full of old crap). Thank you!

First off, this looks absolutely AMAZING! But what I want to tell you is that I'm an industrial designer (I make cool gadgets) in college and the design for the glasses that shade wears is a really neat concept. I have made a similar design to them and entered them in a competition for Shred Optics that, if my/your design wins, will begin manufacturing them and selling them in sporting goods stores. If this happens, I will give credit where it's due and you may actually be able to own a set of your own. Granted my design looks nowhere near as awesome as yours, this is due to technical and manufacturing constraints.

There will be some changes and I would like to note that these shades are designed for snow/skateboarders, surfers, and mountain bikers, meaning they need to be very tough. I would love it if you could please sketch me some alternative color schemes and frame designs. Youβve inspired me to try and take my character to a more real and detailed place. You might have seen my character before actually. I designed him but im not to good an artist to do him any justice so my best friend said heβd draw him for me. I fear that I really miss Shade Phienix a little too much. Loved that idea. You wanna take of STC-O and force them to do the whole Shade thing. *Winks* ... ha ha that mean Year of Hell, Azure and all the dark times depicted. Yay.

You know, ever sense I've watched your work, I've always loved this character. Hes so adorably cute and as original as you can get now a-days. I really wish you'd tell us more about him. I know that there a few little tidbits you've let by over the years (something about Chaos emeralds being bad for the eyes- details are faded in my head), but nothing that explains it. Or have you, and I'm being silly?

Thanks ^_^ I've really been overly mysterious with this guy. He's got a really complicated backstory, but it'll be a while before I get to that part of the fanfic... I always intended for that backstory to be revealed very slowly though, maybe I overdid it a bit!

I love your style! You design your anthro sonic related characters with believable proportions! The perfect blend of humanistic qualities with the look of real hedgehogs, echidnas, etc. This guy looks like he could exist in the real world.

God, I love the way you draw your anthros. ;~; <3 They're just so... rawr! And Shade looks so good like that. XD (Well, he looks good all the time.. <.<; ) I love how you did his hands, with the paw pads. And the scarring on his arm? Dude! I have such trouble doing that... I need to learn, because my vampire has quite a fair bit of scarring, actually, on his forearms. It'd be nice to make them look a little different to the rest of him. o.o

The scars are just random splodges of a slightly darker and redder (excuse the pun) shade of the fur colour. Does the job anyway ^_^

Lovely work as always, your style of drawing hedgehogs still intrigues me. 10 years of plotholes? Honey, try nearly 17 where Vee-Jay is concerned! Of course, she hadn't yet eventuated for five of those years, but she was being concieved there in the narrows of my brain. There's plotholes everywhere in there, so watch your step XD

I've jut always wanted to say that. I like the spines through the jacket, and of course your anthro style is rather 'lush'.
