Is it possible to play as a dinosaur?

If you want a dinosaur game where you can be a dinosaur, Primal Carnage is your game: www.primalcarnage.com/ c:

No, you play as a tribesman.

You can tame and ride on a dinosaur, though.

I don't know exactly about the stage of the project but looks like it's going well because I have a huge list of necessary animals. )))

what are the other dinosaurs? Styracosaurus, ornithomimmus and saichania?

Don't know really. I made only Puertasaurus and Carnotaurus. I suppose, these are Styracosaurus, Ornithomimmus and Ankylosaurus .

anyway! the Puertasaurus is too great! at the beginning I thought there was only 1 and them realized that the "tree" to the left of the indians was a second one : )

The models and textures are clearly superb, but the palette seems short of what it could be. I don't know why all these games like to tone down the color scheme. Too many dull greens and dark blues, not enough brighter reds and yellows. I think if you upped the saturation you'd find the scene pops much more. Just my two cents though, very interested to see how this project turns out.

Well, I don't think that this game will look that way finally. This was just a quick update and the graphic part is still under developing.

I'll upload some dino renders soon and you'll see that they are quite colorful.

Usually its a post processing effect that gives it this kind of look. If it is in the dev's interest its a simple fix. But its entirely up to the team, I just think the game's style could benefit from a broader range of color. I look forward to seeing those renders, always a pleasure to see your work.

Of course, it's result of some filters and effects. But it's not necessary that the developers will use the same way in the end. It just doesn't have big sense to play with gamma and colors on the stage when they almost don't have any models.

The only flaw is that it would be nice to see feathering on a handful of the carnivores, even if this game has cavemen and dinosaurs, a bit of scientific accuracy will not hurt, I know that you are planning t.rex feathers, but a similar, non moving type of plumage for your raptors of ornithommids would be great. also with the shrinking dinosaurs thing, that should not really happen, instead they dissappear because, well you ate them all!

Swordlord3d In reply to Meerkatmatt2 [2013-11-16 16:17:52 +0000 UTC]

Of course there will be feathered dinosaurs in the game. As for T.rex, most likely I won't make this model because it's not included to my list. But my last T.rex model was based on my own conception. There are no any feather prints of this dinosaur and his closest relatives but we have a lot of scales marks from different parts of the body. And traditional relationship theory doesn't work well any more. So we can't make feathered T.rex only because it belongs to Coelurosaur group because we know, for example, feathered and scaly Ornithopods and so on. I just don't want to make feathers only for feathers and for fashion. ))

You know about Yutyrannus right, the one ton feathered tyrannosaur from china.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yutyrann…
blogs.smithsonianmag.com/dinos…
oh well, I saw a finished model for it, a red one and official concept art of different feather arrangements, before yutyrannus it was alright to have non feathered tyrnannosaurs, after it, feathers are kind of a thing, talking about that, here is an idea. you know the part of the island that has extinct mammals, yutyrannus would be a good animal in those parts, know to live in areas where it snowed, different enough from the carntoaur and t.rex, and would please a lot of dinofans, but it would need feathers, but only really furry body feathers, which impressions could be done in Z-brush
Just a little feed back, suggestions and supporting evidence that's all.

Swordlord3d In reply to Meerkatmatt2 [2013-11-16 22:59:39 +0000 UTC]

I know about Yutyrannus and that's why I wrote about traditional relationship theory. Yutyrannus is quite far relative of T.rex. He is much more further than Gorgosaurus and Tarbosaurus (which scale prints we have as well as T.rex's ones). Moreover you told me by yourself about a cold climate. Feathers and scales are very similar structures and it's not quite difficult to turn one to another according to some needs or just in case of random mutation. So there is nothing strange if some more or less relative animals can have different type of cover.

It's important - I don't try to insist on scaly T.rex. This is just my vision based on some thoughts and facts. We can't know it exactly right now and both ways can have equal rights.

Okay, scaly t.res is alright, it would not be good on the raptors that's all. also apparently there is a second paper about the cold climate, it was gauged on the trees growth rings. though there is evidence for ornithomimus being feathered as well.

I agree with you, the raptors and ornithomimids should definitely be feathered.

The scaly Gallimimus is still rather odd because of all theropods the ostrich-like dinosaurs are probably the ones that would cause the fewest uproars of "noo, how can you turn these badass predators into fluffy chickens" complaints if they were feathered.

AmericanRaptor In reply to RickRaptor105 [2013-11-16 02:19:58 +0000 UTC]

True, but, it's also likely they used old concept art too. The previous rex was designed off one such, and well... Let's just say it's a good thing it was a WIP...
