Description
It's been a massive effort to make this up even though I mostly just adapted old art and info. DX------------------------
Name: Canus
Sex: Male
Age: 16-20 ish
Height: Varies-
Human: 5'7"
Werewolf: 6'1"
Wolf: 2'10"
Build: Gangly and lean, wiry muscle, below average weight. Tends towards somewhat long, angular proportions?
Weight: 125-150lbs
Species/Race: Werewolf (inspired by Suikoden II/III)
Weapon of Choice: Usually none. Shortbow (not proficient). Tooth and Claw.
Personality: As a traveler, inexperienced and unsure of himself in social situations, Canus tries to be polite and friendly, and his manners come off as a little old fashioned. He'll try to do what needs to be done, but he'll quickly let someone with a with more dominant personality take over. Can be a bit of a kicked puppy under pressure, but is basically optimistic, which can lead him to take risks for the sake of others where he would otherwise avoid conflict. Youthful, shy and awkward. Puppyish with friends. Prone to idolize, eager to please. Easy to discourage.
Bio:
From a race of werewolves who's "true" form is the big, bipedal wolf creature, Canus is unusual in that he has trouble keeping his forms totally uncontaminated by each other even in low stress situations. His tribes' traditional runic seal(forehead marking), though not infallible, should act as a basic on-off switch unless intentionally released. He's so used to it he doesn't even notice the smaller changes. If he looses focus he can easily slip into another form (normally the werewolf form, but if panicked, it tends to be the wolf form.) This is generally a disadvantage depending on the attitude of the locals, so he covers up thoroughly both to protect himself from the sun and to hide minor shapeshifting slip-ups.
When young he was sent to foster with a shaman in the mountains for several years. The spiritual training was intended to teach him better control, but he made little progress, and the human mage eventually gave up and sent him home. Only... he can't seem to find it. (easy premise for any RP setting).
At one point, he visited a far northern region with an old friend who thinks he's a limp-wristed milk drinker, and constantly tries to toughen him up. He could sometimes be found trying to blend in with wild canines in an attempt to escape from her rough-but-well-intentioned encouragement.
Canus has light sensitive (sub-par)vision and skin. Generally speaking his other senses sharper than an average humans, and he's stronger than he looks, but not to a supernatural level. He's a fairly normal mortal with some quirks, rather than a supernatural creature with lots of magical strengths and weaknesses, as the traditional werewolf is. Pretty easy to beat up, considering. XD
Skills: His "normal skills" include moderate wilderness survival skills, typical rural chores, and basic first aide. Supernatural abilities, beyond the shapeshifting(wolf+human mixes only)and the natural perks of those forms, are weak "mage" type abilities - minor healing, and short range mindspeech (causes headaches, avoids whenever possible).
Flaws: Very naive, shy, shifts when focus wavers, Sometimes acts without thinking. Burns easily, light sensitive, weak vision. Functions better in low light.
Other Notes: -Cheekbone tattoos have the teardrop and dots only on his left side. -The form he most commonly wears is the the "mixed" form, which can vary - what is depicted here is the most frequent. He can end up a mix of pretty much any amount of human-like and wolf-like features, intentionally, or on accident. -The Beast/Dire/Hispo form is non-canon, but it's in-line with my bigger werewolf style so if he DID have a super beastly form, it'd look like that. Neat, but not really in-character. XD

adding this for personal reference: Canus is inexperienced and unsure of himself, but tries to be polite and friendly, and is basically optimistic. He can be a bit of a kicked puppy under pressure. Youthful, shy and awkward. Puppyish with friends. Prone to idolize, eager to please. Easy to discourage. He ends up in his werewolf form mostly by accident, which is a source of anxiety - he'll usually flee if he notices a dramatic shift happening. It takes a lot longer and a calm mind to turn back.
Canus isn't a werewolf who looses control when transformed. In the context of his story, the big bipedal wolf creature is his species's natural shape, and based on his personality, the most aggression one sees from him is protectiveness/threat posturing at enemies and fear/panic response - he's more likely to flee from normal humans than fight them, since there is a lot of anti-nonhuman sentiment where he's from.Mid/late teens in age, lanky build.
