Description
Another dip in the worlds/properties of the Hasbro toy company. Decided to bring in a version of Action Man's main nemesis, the nefarious Doctor X.Truth be told, as stated a bit in the 'Action Man ' submission, was never quite interested in the property back in the 90's, so don't really know much about the classic 'Doctor X'.
This is a version from a 2005 direct-to-video movie 'X Missions', which I took a liking to... as I found the design to be the best version from that period of time. The others just felt like generic 90's cartoon villain designs, like someone tried to combine 'Dork Age' 90's comics, and late-80's/early-90's wrestler outfits into one character.
The 'X Missions' one looks more like a classic villain-type, with a simple slick appearance. No garish costumes, ponytails, mohawks, large cyborg prosthetics, etc. etc. Aside from a mechanical hand and the large X belt buckle, he's a pretty cool, simple and admittedly menacing design.
Course I haven't seen the movie, so no idea if he lives up to this impression.
The versions I'm more familiar with are the "Unit-E" and 'Revolution' concepts... which are drastically different takes/ideas (and we never get to see the Unit-E version). The Unit-E version was meant to be the rogue predecessor to the then current Action Man, so has all the knowledge and resources that would've made him quite the threat.
The IDW Comics 'Revolution' version was an admittedly neat idea... in that there were two Doctors... the original and the person who took over his role. The original (from what little was ever really shown of him) was more or less like his previous iterations, a fiendish super-genius who terrorized the world with his villainy. Unfortunately, he (unbeknownst to his nemesis, the Action Man) died in the midst of a chaotic incident he himself had incited, crushed by falling debris and killed.
His corpse was found by Action Man Programme agent Mercy Gale during clean-up. Having become jaded during her time working for an organization that (to her) was more reactive than proactive... Mercy chose to cover up his death and assume his role. She took over his operations to use his own organizations to 'play both sides against each other' in some deluded belief that she'd improve the world.
Sadly, the IDW Action Man comics didn't really last, and the Mercy Gale version of Doctor X didn't seem to amount to much in the end.
ANYWAY....
Made this sprite using Sagat, Zangief, Q, Rolento and Doctor Doom sprites.
Hope it looks good.
