Description Another 16-bit style superhero sprite.

This time it's the underused and underutilized character known as the Peacemaker, aka: Christopher Smith. A character I feel has untapped potential.

Became aware of this character from the backup story from one of the 'Showcase' tie-in issues for the Batman:Knightfall event back in the 90's. Found him to be an interesting concept, a peace agent grappling with ghosts/voices in his head. One of the acquisitions from 'Charlton Comics' (alongside Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, Question, etc.) but unlike his fellow Charlton characters, he's largely floundered in DC Comics. Probably because the writers had no clue what to do with him. Some of it probably has to do with the source of the 'voices' in his head... the fact that Smith's father was (unbeknownst to him for a long time) a rather infamous former-Nazi Commandant. So his peacekeeping activities were more or less an attempt to make up for his hitherto unknown 'family legacy'.

So it should've come as no surprise that for a good chunk of time the Christopher Smith version was presumed 'DEAD' following a massive event involving the creature known as 'Eclipso' taking over the (fictional) South American country of Parador. There were two other 'Peacemakers' afterwards, but they didn't last.

I enjoyed how Keith Giffen brought him back a few years ago during the early years of the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle as a sorta mentor-type (despite his insisting he wasn't) that I felt handled him REALLY well. He was pretty badass, and would've loved to have seen Giffen do more with him but seems like ever since Peacemaker left the 'Blue Beetle' comic, nobody has wanted to touch the character.

The only other noteworthy thing about the character is how he was (alongside the other Charlton Comics characters) the basis, the 'model' for the characters from Watchmen.

Hope he gets at least SOME attention some time in the future.

Made this sprite using the body of the character Sledge from the 'Doomsday Warrior' SNES game, the helmet of Boba Fett from the 'Super Star Wars' games, the face of the Punisher from the 90's arcade game, and the arm of Cable from the 'Marvel vs Capcom' games.

Well, he did have a back-up feature done by Jeff Lemire in Inferior Five, but that book went into limbo after issue 4.

Yeah. It was originally supposed to be a 12 issue series, but that got cut back, probably because of low initial sales, and then issues 5 and 6 got delayed.
