"There is no escape from me. Very well, I will recalculate...your deaths will be indescribable! Fool hu-mans, there is no escape!"Made this big edit of Sonson's 'Ozaru' form from Marvel vs. Capcom for a big idea involving King Kong... but things kinda stalled out on that... and it was just sitting there... for a long time. Then I came upon this idea to make a silly version of it... and thus... this Robot Monster sprite was born.
At one point in time, had a wild hair about making another project, ala my big 'Pulp Heroes' sprite series... this time dedicated to classic sci-fi/space pulp (Flash Gordon, John Carter, etc.) and stuff inspired by it. Needing some good villains to even out the roster (which there were sadly few from this era of writing)... figured I'd bring in movie monsters/villains like ol' Ro-Man here.
Though if I were REALLY serious about something like that... I'd probably base the Ro-Man sprite more on this kick-ass re-imagining I stumbled across on the internet. img.photobucket.com/albums/v48…

ha, this made my day. I don't know why but I think if there was a fighting game with these 50's -60's era sci-fi monsters i'd half expect the 3 silhouettes from mst3k to be at the bottom of the screen riffing the fight

Your sprite is definitely better than the movie. For one thing, you actually put effort into creating it, while I think the monster in the movie was just the result of sifting through a bargain bin at a local Halloween costume store.
