I've got you, you're safe now...
So when I found out the theme for the most recent Ponies-For-Everypony's artist training grounds was "Safety" the first idea that came to mind was something involving Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash since Scootaloo pretty much looks up to Rainbow Dash as a role model and big sister (suffice to say that I would love to see this relationship develop further in Season 4). Then I thought the best depiction of this came from the scene where she ends up rescuing Scootaloo in "Sleepless in Ponyville".
It's not my best work, but I think its pretty good for being sketched in about a half hour and colored at the last minute. I know, this time I even got two weeks to work on something (shows how busy I am with school). Regardless, Thankgiving Break is coming up, and then I'll actually have time to actually work on quality work.

Now this is pretty well drawn in its category!
With increased contrast and decreased brightness, it could look more colorful (though it can be a bit tricky, cause Rainbow's mane and tail has much stronger colors, since you applied more pressure) . Then in would be almost perfect. It could take some background though.

I agree, I have a hard time getting the colors from my original drawing to show up perfectly in the scanned image. I'll have to work on that. And yes, a background is definitely in order!

The scanner picks the color information up perfectly! You can "bring it back" with tweaking brightness and contrast, as well as the color settings. Trust me, it's all there. Just a few clicks...

Very good especially for a hand-drawn work. The outlines are good, and the colors are too. The only minor flaws I can see is Scootaloo's pupils look a bit too large. Their pupils are very large in the show, but not quite that large. Also RD's snout looks slightly too small from a perfect side view. Other than that it was very good.
