Wow, that is so cool!!! It reminds me a little of the mechs from Gurren lagann. That visor looks almost as if she has those sick anime shades haha.

Huh, your angular style actually works quite well in mechanical designs. The arms and hands have pretty accurate forms despite having exaggerated sharpness. Also have you made a tutorial on how to paint shiny surfaces? The rendering in this illustration looks really nice.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I have or haven't made a shiny tutorial. But the best advice I have is to study shiny materials and try to not so much copy exactly, but figure out what makes something look shiny. Maybe I'll do a tutorial in the future.

Yeah, reflections can be complicated and it does take time to understand what's going on. I'm more having troubles with which brush to use and what stroke techniques I should learn, that type of stuff. Often when I try to do these renderings with soft edges such as shiny surfaces, the colors just look really muddy. It's frustrating because I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Yeah, I hear ya. I like to use hard round brushes to do reflections and then use a soft brush to erase the edges that I don't want to be hard. That way I get to control the crispiness much more.

I see. I don't really like the "paintng with the eraser tool" type of digital art techniques, but perhaps I should get more used to them.
