I'm digging this lineless work. You planning on moving in this direction with your style?

Hmm... Haven't figured out whether or not to go with lineless or line. I like them both. But definitely plan to move the colouring to this style.

Sorry for butting in, but I couldn't help reading the comments.
There is an artist who does lineless stuff really well, thought you might like to look at his stuff:

Couldn't you technically define art as a style experiment, in and of itself?
Sorry, just musing.

You're making a tone of different outfits... I have to work on this... My characters are wearing the same clothes xD

Luckily I've somehow managed to win Christopher Harts book about fashion design, so I'm in a perfect situation for studing this, anyways, thanks for advice

I really like the tranparentvsketch lines, but the central shadow on the skirt (?) made me confused, is it a skirt or pants? She looks so foreign (for a brazilian)

It is like a nearly line free simplified stylized cartoon style. If this is efficient to do it has extreme potential and very well could put you in some serious work. Are you doing the line work first then build a fast color scheme or start with blocks of color and carve out your forms?

It's VERY efficient compared to the way I used to paint. It all starts with line, but moves into colour soon after. With this one it's all done digitally, but I have a variation where I do all the lines traditionally first and colour them digitally, and in that style, I keep the lines pretty obvious. I will upload the next one in that style.

Well I am anxious to see this, are you going to try doing it with markers on the traditional piece soon? Because the technique looks to be easily done there too, you could even leave out lines in your traditional media drawing to create a similar effect to what you get with digital. Markers seem like a natural media to work with this kind of style, very quick to apply, clean blends using lighter markers over darker to dissolve lines, direct clean shadows. Just food for thought.

I actually did try markers, but I only used one, so I didn't have any nice gradients... But I think it could work if I used markers. Thanks for the idea. Colouring on Photoshop is super quick, but if I get less lazy, maybe I will try markers.

I think I will start off with Vegeta and see where it goes after that. Maybe I'll take requests... I need to break in this style.

Vegeta would be nice. Or do something completely different and draw Monk from the TV show, Monk. lol

Are you making a video about this?

Sycra In reply to MeIsSuperMan [2014-01-09 01:30:08 +0000 UTC]
Ah... No video for this one. I learned the method from watching Andrew Hou vids on Schoolism so I kinda feel a bit weird to teach what he already taught. But I will say, it's a pretty basic cel-shading technique. The colours are just based on intuition, not much theory, and the drawing is just me drawing in my style ( which I kinda don't wanna teach because I wanna be selfish where it concerns my style haha ).
