Description "The object has returned. It's getting closer."

Next up is Destination Inner Space from 1966! By this point, I'd grown a little more confident in my research reference finding, so I had another pretty easy go on this one. I obviously referenced deep sea creatures for this, but I also referenced a bit of the aliens from The Abyss to help add a few more alien details. As I had a few fishmen on the list, it became a priority for their redesigns to try and avoid just making them all humanoid fish, especially since I want to tackle that concept in TriZen with the Deep Ones (which this creature fits in perfectly with!). So with that all in mind, I set out to make something a little more unique.

Originally I was going to have the creature simply be more mermaid-ish, with a fin-like tail more like the aforementioned Abyss aliens, but in reading the plot summary, it seems the creature enters the station and moves around. While it could still work crawling around on two limbs, I loved the look of smaller legs that it crosses under the body. Something that can be used for land traversal, but isn't necessary otherwise. Of course my trademark long, creepy arms really fit the unnatural deep sea alien look, as does the bioluminescence. I then gave it a big jellyfish-like mantle, which it can use to cocoon itself for protection, which is the form it is first encountered in. The awesome tail I used a few references to create; which I decided to make massive to help propel the creature faster. Beyond that, it also carries a highly deadly plague that causes flesh to liquify. Finally, I tried something new to make its skin appear see-through, which I think turned out awesome! For the plot adaptation, these would be Deep Ones from the abyssal level of the Leviathan Zone rather than alien bioweapons. The whole thing would probably feel a little more like 2020's Underwater, with these creatures trying to break into the station.

So far, this is my absolute favorite among the redesigns~!
