Description
I don't know if any of you have heard of Dina Norlund, but she's absolutely adorable and has an amazing youtube channel where she does just... stunning art. One of the things she does on her channel is something called random creature design- she picks three random animals from a little jar, and she combines them to create a single fantastical creature. I only just found her channel and her most recent random creature design is the first video of hers I saw. this video you should watch it She invites everybody who watches to try to creature a creature of their own at the same time and... I was actually super inspired by her video. I went through the same process she does in her videos, sketching references of all the critters and then doing some lil concepting (mostly mentally unlike her lol) and then just... making a creature. The three creatures are bats, vaquitas (a small, endangered porpoise), and the peacock mantis shrimp. I kept the vaquita body, flippers, dorsal fin, and its coloration, incorporated the bat wings into the flippers as well as using its ears and face combined with the vaquita, and I used the shrimp's tail as inspiration for a modified tail flipper and for a sort of crest, and I of course used a lot of the shrimp's coloration! I am... super proud of this child. I've never considered myself very good at creating critters but doing it this way with Dina chatting in the background as I worked... it was just so easy. It was so much fun and I definitely think everybody should give it a shot. Even if you don't, you should definitely go check out Dina's youtube channel!!
Let me know if you have any cool ideas for what this lil species should be named, I have no ideas~

Thank you! I loooowkey feel like I failed making my creature completely unique since I used the shrimp colors like Dina did, but... who wouldn't use those colors that's the prettiest shrimp I've ever seen
