Description
A temple of Apollo in Cyrene, founded by settlers from Thera (Santorini), a Greek island then suffering from draught. The settlers were guided by the delphic Oracle of Apollo to Libya, where they eventually settled Cyrene after a couple false starts and one failed attempt to return home. Afterwards, Cyrene grew to be a tremendously rich place, eclipsing its metropolis (mother-city), and the capital of Cyrenaica.
