Description
Starlight was distraught when her childhood best friend, Sunburst, was chosen to go study magic in Canterlot. She would have grown bitter, if not for Sunburst's younger sister, Sunset Shimmer, coming to her side.

Sunset always felt overshadowed by Sunburst as well, so she and Starlight vowed to work together to enroll in The Lunar Academy. They slowly achieve their goal and get in the academy. They become good friends with Moondancer and Twilight Sparkle, but the two of them were inseparable.

They work through the ranks and both become top student's of Luna, and one day they have their magic put to the ultimate test: destroying Discord's chaos magic. With the help of the Royal sisters, Twilight, and King Sombra, they are successful. But not without sacrifice.

While most of the ponies managed to escape Discord's attempts at retaliation, Starlight almost did not. Almost. If Sunset hadn't jumped to protect her. Sunset lived, but her horn was shattered, and her magic drained.

Depressed and angered and frustrated, she isolates herself from everyone - including Starlight. Sunset believed she wasn't worthy of being her partner or friend anymore, after losing the thing they worked so hard for. Starlight tries to reach out to her so many times, but Sunset moves herself to Ponyville, far away from the reminders of her loss.

Starlight sets out to find her and ends up in Everfree Forest. Sunset had taken it upon herself to learn about potions from Zecora, and actually has proven to be successful. Starlight begs Sunset to come back home. Sunset denies her offer, so Starlight decides to match her stubborness and move to Ponyville.

Sunset tries to deny Starlight's attempts at contact for a while, but slowly starts to miss Starlight's presence. They steadily grow close again and are soon tumbling into marriage.

They still live in Ponyville, Starlight keeping in close contact with the Princess and sometimes traveling to Canterlot. Sunset has become an apothecary in the town, now comfortable living a quiet, small town life. They often visit the Crystal Empire to see Sunburst and Canterlot to see Moondancer and Twilight.
