Description
I also wanted to include Seregios and Chameleos, but after drawing that saddle three times all I could say was NOPE. Oohh man it was harder than you’d think drawing that thing x_x
Even if certain monsters don’t get in (I have a hard time imagining Agnaktor or Gore Magala making it in) I’d love to imagine that somewhere, they still make attempt at taming them, and of course fanart <3
パリアプリア / Pariapuria - the cute amphibious glutton dragon
ドスジャギィ / Great Jaggi - The adorable frilled pack leader
タマミツネ / Mizutsune - The bubbly water fox dragon

I was disappointed that the Mizutsune never made it in, not even as a DLC monster. ;w; But damn, it would of been a BEAUTIFUL mount. Maybe if they make a future game, they'll add in the amazing bubble fox dragon as a mount. ^^

Technically Mizutsune was a companion, but only in the mobile spinoff (of a spinoff hah) "Monstie Drop". Along with the other Fabulous Four, Agnaktor and Glacial Agnaktor (Yeeep) and Valstrax (Who looks amazing in that style + with a saddle ^^)
Of course then they shut the servers down so nobody, nobody, not even Japan, gets to play it. And they're long since done with Stories so there's no hope of them ever popping into the main game
I'm doubtful they'll make a second game. Even in Japan it sold poorly, and that's all that companies like this care about when judging if a game's worth jack or not. It hardly matters if its rated highly (Stories was very, very well received - whiners aside) just as long as it sells well. Stories got fantastic ratings, but did it sell well enough? My guess is "No" but we'll have to wait and see what they do on that front

Dang, I never even heard of that (I kinda joined the fandom pretty late. Heck, Stories is what got me into it. XD Even played and beaten World). Sucks, I would of wanted to give it a shot. Oh well. ;w;
Well, you never know. Stories felt like an experimental game. It has its flaws, but what game doesn't have them? I still enjoyed it and I loved this idea of riding and taming monsters, and they fight alongside you. I doubt it'll be a true feature in a main game series since... its about hunting monsters rather than taming them. XD Still would be a cool idea to be able to have a monster companion, though. World SORTA did it, with your kitty pal able to "tame" a monster to fight alongside you until it died so... who knows?

I joined in with 3 Ultimate, but 4U was the latest game at the time. Reason was basically two-fold: I had a WiiU but only a Japanese 3DS, and I wasn't sure I'd even like the games. So rather than spend $50'ish on a game I wouldn't be able to understand and may not even like, I went with getting a $20 copy of 3U for a platform I could understand. I also wanted to see Lagiacrus, who wasn't in 4U (He was in MHX/Generations as well as being planned for World, but he and his area got scrapped 'cause they couldn't be arsed to put some work into him when a lil glitch popped up. Despite some common rumors, it had NOTHING to do with Swimming Combat; they said as much for one, and for two there's none of that in MHX and yeeeet...)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yklJJ… Playing as cats and fighting him
Ahem but yeah. MHX/Generations also felt experimental in some ways, like with the playing AS palicoes (as above) but also the Arts/Styles feature. Some of those things got made into base features though, and inspired things like the Health Booster and the Sword & Shield doing mounting attacks.
Stories is possibly why they had your palico temporarily tame and even ride small monsters in World, though it feels like a half-baked feature that could have had so much more going for it. The palicoes in World are kinda useless compared to Generations and 4 :/
Until it died or you went too far away from it or into an area it didn't want to follow you into xD
I hope they do consider a Stories 2 though. Nintendo's missing out on MH right now so a Stories 2 is their best bet to continue getting in on the action this generation. Also, if they do I really hope they handle the plot better. Things were SO RUSHED in the game compared to the anime. For starters Cheval basically goes nuts overnight in the game and its hard to really sympathize with him (particularly in the later portions of it) while it happens over a longer period of time in the anime. He accompanies you through part of the story in that before he finally runs off and you see him struggling with things before it finally breaks - as opposed to the game's handling of it. Plus, you get to see 'em do fun things with their monsters like petting them and having a race.... Things we can't do in the game! D:<
For a game all about "Bonding with" your monsters, you really can't do much with 'em x'D And the bits about bringing out their potential an stuff is kinda wasted when you realize only a third or less of the roster's worth using. RIP Great Baggi, a bare-minimum stat monster that's located in an endgame area....

Ooo, that's neat. ^^ Yeah, I've been aware of the game since its release but it just never got caught my attention. Until Stories, anyways. A friend suggested the demo and I'm like, "Eh, it's free, why not?" And I just fell in love with it. XD And slowly been warming up to the series ever since.
Nice! ^^
Yeah, maybe it was a nod to it. But I admit, it was a neat feature none the less, I kinda chuckled at my palico riding on a Girros into battle in the Rotten Vale but the first time, I'm like, "WHOA! Stories did it too!" XD And yeah, mine is only useful after getting that Piercing Claw for extra items/monster parts.
And oh my god, I'm not the only one who was unhappy with Cheval! XD Finally! And indeed... He just went from being timid and gentle to a massive douche almost over night (And no game, saying "one year later" does not count!). I mean, I do get it, he lost his mother in a brutal way, but blaming a monster who didn't ask to be infected with the Blight isn't even gonna help, neither. ;w; I need to watch the anime, I hadn't finished it due to being busy with other things. But yeah, the anime seems to really give us more of a reason to feel sorry for Cheval, but in the game, yeah, I hated his bits. >< I hardly felt sorry for him and just wanted him to go away so I can continue the game! And even when he "reformed", that was STILL rushed. I dunno why they felt the need to rush these things with him, not like the game couldn't of handled some more story and such.
I agree, I kinda wish we could of done more to bond with the monsties. Like, couldn't they of added in a feature were we can pet or even feed them, like a MH version of Pokemon Amie? D: If that can be done, I think people would of liked it a bit more, Pokemon fans adored Amie and it didn't even need to be included, but it helped the fans feel they were truly bonding with their Pokemon. And heck, added the features if a Pokemon loved you enough, it'd be able to do critical hits more often and such. I bet if that happened in Stories, fighting would be a bit easier too and give the player a real reason to care about the monsters too, especially if they did similar things in Pokemon. But maybe that's just me.

Generally, you cat is only useful for three things in World:
--Serving as a decoy
--Plunderblade or Coral Orchestra (Depending on opinion, the healing wasp one too)
--Picking up extra loot when on gathering runs.
They were always a bit iffy to be honest, but they were at their best in 4 and Generations, and in World they're better if you're in a 2-person hunt. My palico was utterly useless when fighting True Xeno solo since he spent almost the entire quest KO'ed haha. Yeah, poor cat would revive and then immediately get blasted, ran over, lasered, or pop out in the middle of a field of lava and then bail out again as soon as he came back.
Unno if you've fought him yet or not. I say "True Xeno" but it's jus a nickname of mine; it's the Arch-Tempered version of his fight and its glorious
One of my favorite attacks of his, where he slams his wings into the ground Magala-style and makes stuff explode:

Then the full fight:

It seemed to be a common sentiment from the folks I talked to. Most who were familiar with the anime at least liked him there, but those who weren't just hated him overall. I think he was more crusading against the Blight itself than being upset with the monster specifically, but the anime kinda dashes that by showing he did indeed have some feelings about the nargacuga. Shown in one episode where he revealed he had a nargacuga too but eventually abandoned it because of being too worked up over 'that day' to have it around. He's beating himself up over that before he goes out to find it, and reunites with it. It was so sweet and hnnn ;v;
raethalis.tumblr.com/post/1679…
I had a few more pics from the epi but I can't find them anymore hnn... But as he's apologizing to his narga for being such a brat, the camera briefly shifts to his Rathian who's standing nearby and she's there nodding her head in an approving way MONSTERS ARE SO SMART ;v;
((Me and a few of my friends adore thinking that his rathian is actually his mother reincarnated as one haha, looking after him and stuff))
Yeah, if they ever do a second game I really hope they do stuff like that. So much wasted opportunities here :'<
Also smart monsters? Holy hecc there was this scene where a Royal Ludroth of all things actually pulls a pretty bold stunt against the crew. They're having a picnic and the sponge comes up and starts eating the steaks until Ratha comes along... Th Royal Ludroth beats him up and when Navi comes along he's about to fight the cat too.... Until Lute arrives on scene and the leviathan notices Ratha getting back up. It's at that point he decides to quit while he's still ahead and bails out of there, knowing that's a fight he's likely not going to win. Smart guy xD

And Lagiacrus
I really hope they aren't cheap with the mounts, that they really push out a lot of options like they have with MHX. Thankfully half of that fear was gone with the latest trailer (A lot of folks I've talked with and myself were afraid that we'd have three or four popular monsters only or - worst case - JUST rathalos)
So we've got Royal Ludroth, Barioth, Diablos, and Nargakitty added in as of the most recent video they've shared.

Not that Gore would be able to see it, but it'd be interesting for us to see!
Would need to find a way to overcome his uh, handicap though. Khezu can use his sense of smell to get around, but Gore? Um.... Well... ;>_>
