Shaggy the Shagaru Magala and her deceased mate. Two characters from my MonHun side-fiction.

Bit of a read follows, but her backstory is below~

When Gore was still very young, Shaggy took him and fled their home, hoping to raise him in a way that he could grow up without becoming aggressive and hated. She remained by his side at all times, so he wouldn’t need to make use of the infamous virus the Magala’s are known for.

For a long time that worked just fine. The two weren’t bothered often and Gore didn’t end up causing much trouble, except for one day when Gore got separated from Shaggie. (Resulting in the two early quests in 4U involving repelling Gore) She’s trying to keep him from needing to use his seeing scales as much as possible, but when she’s not around and he’s out on his own…. Doesn’t have much choice usually.

Much later on and a while after being introduced to the main cast of characters, her mate finally tracked down Gore and intends on bringing him home to raise him ‘properly’, in the process causing quite a bit of trouble - between attacking others and his virus ability spreading around. In a way, this ends up serving as their mirror to the final story fight in MH4.

Near the end of the fight, Shaggie’s mate insists that monsters and humans can never work together, she insists that they can and they will. These end up being their last words to each other as her mate dies shortly afterwards, with Shaggie being somewhat responsible for that. He was already pretty heavily hurt from fighting the others - and after their last bit of dialoged she lunges at him, which results in the two falling down the cliffside and tumbling to the bottom. Normally that wouldn’t have done much, but with all the damage he’d already sustained it was enough to finally break him and he couldn’t take any more.

Despite the trouble he caused, he only wanted what he felt was best for their child, and even though he and his mate had differing opinions on the humans and how to approach them, he still loved her and she loved him. Shaggy was deeply saddened at how things ended, but continued to raise Gore alongside her new friends. Eventually Gore was signed up with the ‘Monster’s Guild’ and became a fairly challenging quest monster.
