Description
Assignment: Create a mask symbolic of my shadow.

When creating this piece I was inspired by The Order (Movie) and Ichigos' duality in Bleach (Anime). The exterior of the piece shows a struggle between the inner "demons" and the exterior "facade". The Tentacles/aspects of the Shadow have a dialectical relationship with the Self (as illustrated by the relationship of the words on the tags). The are also some gold coated leaves (it was suggested that they were trying to weigh the tentacles and bring them to the ground). The face itself is streaked with muddy tears, unclean tears that soaked and stained the skin. Yet, once inside the space is welcoming with solid river stones, wood, and a small suggestive growth. The shell, a Polimita, is representative once again of my connection with the earth, in this case my home, Cuba.

Eventhough it creeps out my fiance it makes me happy whenever I look at it.
