Amazing piece. The asteroids are awesome, I love how they look.
Unlike most people, I actually kind of like the moon. It's sort of like an ice planet that lets the light shine through or something like that (it doesn't really follow the laws of physics and how thick that core should be, but it still looks cool.)
Nice work.

Thanks a lot man!
Yeh exactly My goal was to make a "full" moon... cause I've just never seen one done in a space scene... but it could be an ice planet too- that sounds cool

The planet on the far right is amazing.

Maybe you should add a REAL bright spot where the moon collides. Also some cracks would be nice. The rest is really good !

Well now it looks really good.
But I don't get why the planet has been so bright before the collision ?

The biggest planet and the roidbelt is just amazing man. Detail, texture, just wicked good!
The soft hazic nebula is veru ambient and soothing which works well. I don't get the smallest brighter planet tho, it's almost impossible to do such a bright textured planet without getting it to look very flat, as in this case sadly.
Besides that smallest planet I dig this piece. Extreme roids man, just nice! Wish you'd given em some more light tho.
Keep that up dude! I'm adding sci-fi works tomorrow , be aware!
Cool your inspiration is partial from me

Thanks so much man! I really appreciate it
Well my goal was to make a "full" moon. Been seeing a lot of those lately and I have never seen one done in a space scene... it may not really fit the scene but I like it
Ahhh hell yeh!!! I'll be checkin in on that forsure
Cheers dude!

When I say "I upload tomorrow" it's usually in a few days, I never hold my deadlines when I'm not commissioned lol. Sci-fi piece is ready now tho and will be up tomorrow Sunday
. It's a groovy one, rapidstyle of course ^^

Looks nice, the mid-distance planet looks really good, the details are natural and not over the top. the small Moon only looks "flat" due to the lack of shadows, I would have made it darker on the back like the othe rplanets, yeat after the transition from light to dark, have it backlit by and orange glow (suggesting it's heating up as it's about to crash) I admit that in the thumbnail, I thought it was a blue star instead since it looks self-luminous

Thanks man Yeh I was aiming to create a full moon, and they have no shadows
And I really like the idea about the orange glow, that would look sweet XD

Oh well, I can see you changed it, Yeah, I hardly see any fully-lit planets in space art ever, people forget that a full-moon can exists lol, but if that planet was full, then others should have been too lol. Anyway, good edition

Phritz [2008-08-22 08:36:45 +0000 UTC]
you rotated it!
lol, I had two message centre windows, one old, one just opened, and they looked different
Prefer it much more rotated this way, the ring is very well done, actually, superbly haha
Nebula is nice and soft, nothing too mindblowing, but subtle, and I like that
what bugs me are the planets and their lighting - I can see why Fett said the last planet looks flat - the lighting on it doesn't make it look very round :S then the larger planets - one has a blueish shadow, and the shadow of the other one fades to black? (OMG, I actually used Fade to Black in a sentence lol)

Haha yeh I rotaed it like 4 times! thanks man
the medium planet has that blue shadow because it is further off towards the nebula, where the blue-ish light is coating it.
And as for the moon, I dont know what to do :\ I spherized 100 - 50... I referenced a recent full-moon i saw, that was fucking bright!
thanks again man

The smallest one looks flat. Other than that, excellently done, I like the nebula.

Dont worry m8, its not All my planets are spsherized once at 100% and again at 50%
Thanks for your comment!!

Actually, he's right, it looks flat but not because of the texture. The lighting doesn't seem quite right for the scene. I think instead you should have the normal light from the lightsource in the top right, with a smaller, closer light that is very intense, as well as a dim light reflecting off of the planet it's about to crash into. Of course, that's not to say that as a whole this picture isn't unbelievably awesome. I've wanted to do a closeup of a ring like that for a while now and haven't been able to work up the guts to do it.
I mean w0wz0rz.
