Taken at 6:51pm from the Bald Hill Opal Fields, Lightning Ridge, N.S.W. on the 8.4.12.Easily my best photo for the night. Stunning clear air CG firing out of the RFB area. There were about six other active storms around me (to the NW and SE) that were all pushing rapidly East across N.S.W. with the extended frontal system.

Exquisite... it is an awe inspiring image. I've seen such storms while in Idaho, but to capture it takes a little luck and a GREAT deal of thought and preparation .
Looking at this photograph makes me hope, very deeply, that I will be able to view such a scene one more time.

We are fortunate out here to commonly see fairly isolated storms like this (multicell types mostly).
It's so nice to shoot weather and not end up drenched by heavy rain as is usually the case lol.
I'm sure you'll get to see something again soon. It's all about being in the right place at the right time

is it just me or is the lightning bolt GLOWING? this is amazing, great shot

Nope, it's glowing! There's a tiny little rain shower where the bolt is conducting. The rain drops that are surrounding are then illuminated by the bolt.
