Description COMMENTS ARE HIGHLY APPRECIATED SO PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO GIVE ONE INSTEAD OF FAVING AND LEAVING

Well I had an idea. I knew I wasn't going to be able to make the regular time frame so I kinda had to post this super earlier. So hey enjoy and see you all at 8:35 PM MST

Well here we are with the new instalment of architecture wensday, and here today is the permanent building so let's begin shall we.

The permanent building was constructed in 1910 in the Edwardian baroque style which is a architectural style which first originated in Europe and lasted from about 1901-1910. (some what of a short lived style compared to the other ones I've seen but still rather impressive might I add) The building was designed by the well known architect Roland. W Lines and then constructed by Pheasy and Baston at a cost of $70.000. Which by inflation nowadays that'll equal $1,750,000. During building this building was advertised as the city's first fire proof bank, mainly do to its reinforced concrete skeleton structure which this pemananet building was one of the first to use in this city. Upon completion it was perceived as the city's most modern and expressive building and something it does still hold to this day mainly though because of its style. Which there are only five other surviving examples of. Those being.

- this building

- The legislative buildingΒ

- Gibbard block

- Norwood school

- Margrath mansion

So after completion this building originally housed the (Na) permanent mortgage corporation of (Na) which is regarded nowadays as the country's largest and oldest loan institute. I'm not entirely to sure when the company left the building however. But let's get sidetracked for a second. So while we discussed the exterior let's talk about the interior. Oddly enough this place still retains its interior elements with tiled floor oak fittings, plaster columns and pilasters. As well as fancy cornices even on the outside these elements are present with the company's logo being above the doorway . Which is a lighthouse with wings. The exterior also boasts. The buildings name on the second story, the build date on the third floor, Adamesque *swag garland with tassels topped by urns red stretcher bond brick (third floor) As well as low arches. Decrotive brick and cornice work for the window pilaster areas and step back bays. Now the building had lied empty for quite awhile. The permanent building was going to get torn down during the 80,s but the was quickly save and given A list on the historic register, it was officially recognized as a historical place on 1995/01/03. After that though the building housed a Japanese village restaurant. Before closing down in I think 2012 after a 40 year service before being boarded up. After that it sat vacant in till 2013 where there was a controversial proposal of the building being turned into a strip club. However that idea was quickly knocked down. Where once again it has sat vacant until now. As of recently a couple all the way from France are looking to turn this building into a French bakery and restaurant as well a a small French market and some roof top stuff as well. Currently they have setup a Kickstarter page where there asking 100,00 for it, plans also include restoration work that they say could last up to 10 months.

But hey that's mainly it, haha. You know I've though about quizzing you guys on this stuff. Idk though.

You find all the cool buildings! I guess they weren't kidding with that name. It's really neat how it is in such good condition (at least it looks that way) after all these years. I hope it does get turned into some sort of restaurant.

Aww yay thanks! It takes me awhile but it's worth it. I guess so as well, and I guess it is as well just some new windows and they need t reprint the name then it's fine! However the interior state is worrisome. I hope so as well.

Yep, that postcard does show a nice view. It's name sounds a bit foreboding and also it seems a bit out of place next to those other buildings.Β
Yeah XD And yum, that would be fun. ^^
