Hey there, everyone!
In case you didn't know, I'm doing DeviantArt's Drawtober challenge this year to get some cool badges for my profile because I like collecting stuff. (All of the info can be found here if you wanna join in too!)

Today's prompt was "raven" and ravens (along with crows) are known to be scavengers so... Dead body + raven + parasite = eldritch abomination. That's my idea for this drawing in a nutshell. :D

Only 12 more days until Halloween! I didn't do much to celebrate but hey, I'm having fun in my own way and that's all that matters, really.

Y'all already know this but college sucks.. Seriously, so many people tell you that you're gonna have tons of fun but don't let those expectations disappoint you if you get into one. It's way less exciting than it sounds in my opinion. Y'know, it's even a little annoying honestly.. XD

Welp, just gotta wait and get my degree so I can leave that place already lol.

More info, in case you're curious!:
The little tentacles sticking out of the monster's face were indeed inspired by lampreys. Just like lampreys, the parasite can stick those tentacles to it's prey and use them to suck it's blood. After it's done with the easy kill, it can have a nice meal when the prey stops moving.

It feeds on pretty much anything that moves and it strangely likes to be attacked by other animals, because that allows the parasite to infect them easier when they try to bite it.

Infected hosts will usually experience mutations that allow the parasite to control them better. If it wants an extra leg because it can't balance your body too well then boom, you might start growing a third leg. If it wants you to grow a beak for some reason then boom, you could start growing one too.

The parasite will control it's host, even after it's dead, so it funnily attracts crows and 𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘴, who try to scavenge and eat some of it when it sits still, mistaking it for a rotting corpse.. This allows the monster to spread it's infection to the birds that try to feed on it, continuing it's life cycle. The birds can then spread it to other animals nearby.

The infected birds won't be able to sleep. They will not hesitate to bite other creatures and infect them, even in broad daylight, until they die and the spores in them explode, infecting any other animal nearby. The parasite will then usually move the dead body of it's host to attract nearby predators, who will mistake it for a wounded prey and eat it.. Which will infect them and continue the life cycle.

The parasite gets very curious when it spots a fire nearby, so don't attempt to scare it with fire. That'll just lure it to your location faster. Guns should work well on it, since it's just an infected person, so a firearm would be a great way to keep yourself safe if you can get your hands on one. Just stay away when you shoot because some of it's spores might explode and cover anything nearby.

Don't attempt to:
-Use a knife or any other close-ranged weapon, you'll be very easy to infect if you get close.
-Damage it's spine, the infected spine contains many spores that will spray you. If you're using a gun, try to aim away from it's neck and back. Going for the arms and legs is a good idea.
-Waste your time damaging it's eyes. That will greatly aggravate it and it can easily grow new eyes.
