I adore Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. I can't believe THQ got so little adoration for their wonderful game. Honestly, why isn't it popular? Why does crap like whatshisface and the search for JuJu get a sequel and Sphinx gets hardly any recognition? I want a sequel, dammit!Originally THQ was going to give Sphinx the ability to turn into a sphinx; an idea that didn't make it into the release. I wish I could find the Game Informer review with the snapshot of the sphinx in it. (I remember being so excited when it read it in April '03) Ah well, so I just made something up.

That was a really fun game! I thought it needed more fans too! Love your picture though! Looks great and I like the use of colors. The look good together, like they do in the game of course, but I like how these are a little lighter and not so covered up by the shadows like they can be in the game. Well done!

Because "lowest common denominator". Same reason good television shows don't last and few people hear of good novels but things like Twilight are super popular. The everyday average Joe can't appreciate something really good when he finds it, because it's beyond him.
Sphinx was too good for the lowest common denominator to appreciate it. Thus, no recognition. Sadly.
I wonder, if a Sphinx fan ever won the lottery, could they alone pay THQ into making a sequel by covering the costs of production? Hmm...

Totally agree with you, dude. This was a wonderful game, so enjoyable and unique, and that stupid Tak crap gets recognition instead. Also, I did not know that Sphinx was supposed to turn into his namesake - that woulda been badass!!! Crummy THQ, never going with the good games... though it's similar to what happened to Clover with their game Okami, only Okami did eventually get recognition - after Clover went under. Only in this instance it was the excellent game that went under, instead. D-:

I really really really really want to play this game so much but I haven't seen it anywhere. I wish I bought it when I had to chance to years ago. Curse my small attention span at the time. Ahem anyway, I think he looks great in your style. I love his design and he's so cute yet cool at the same time. Really nice work!

I believe it is still available online for sale, and as an avid player myself, I would recommend it. Lovely art of sphinx! I too wish this had been a thing, but I still love the game as is.

So I read about the sphinx transformation that you wrote about. I had never heard about that so I went on a wild goose chase all over the internet trying to find at least one screenshot...And I found one. It also list tons of other things that was taken out or changed. Hope you enjoy it. =3

It's always fun to revisit that page. I remember the magazine I saw had two or three nice shots of the sphinx form, not that I'll ever find them now.

To THQ and Eurocom, make a Sphinx 2. The first game (I played it on PS2) is one of my favorites and one of the first games I ever owned for the PS2.

I love this game! I have always been bummed that they never made a sequel, it really was a spectacular game, everything from the music to the beautiful scenery within the game. I saw those images of Sphinx as, well, a Sphinx, and ever since then I have been wondering whether or not it was some hidden feature of the game that you could unlock or something. It's too bad they didn't keep it in the game, it would have been really fun! I am glad there is another fan out there who loves Sphinx as much as I do!

I know that Sphinx is a God, and thus Immortal, But is he supposed to be like a Teenager? He and Tutankhamen look to be the same age, and Tut died when he was eighteen to nineteen years old. Just Curious is all.

haha i always like how his sword disappeared...it was like *sparkle sparkle vanish!* -- and those pants they gave him are so great - i loved how in the game you could get a side-view of him and zoom down and see the big bulge in his pants XD - (looks like you drew that pretty accurately too) YAY FOR MEN IN TIGHT PANTS! HAHAHA
and i always wondered about that game trailer that showed sphinx flying - i was like "heeeey....you don't get to fly in the game! except with that weird eagle.....aw man, i wanna fly with sphinx's wings!" i really wish they had finished all the elements they originally meant to put in the game...sphinxified sphinx would've been so cool -- but they still did an AMAZING job with what they had! one of my favorite games of all time---probly my fav element was all the different enemies and how you can collect them and stick them in the museum :3

dis is dee most underrated game in the history of underrated games. not only is it high quality as far as game play goes but it is beautifuly done too. i kept saying to myself 'Ohhhh! i should that!' but stupid Juju guy has the worst art ever and the characters r so ugly. i love dis game! p.s. ur art kix keister!
