Twilight: Thank you. Just stay by the entrance in case he might try to escape.
*Sunset and Tyler nod. Twilight then turns around, takes a deep breath, and starts walking. After a minute or two, she pauses and hears faint sniffling. She peers from behind a corner and sees Flash sitting against the fence, hiding his face.*

Flash: *Gasps and picks his head up* T-Twilight?!

Twilight: Yes, it is me, Flash.

*Flash tries to stand up to run, but Twilight stops him*
Twilight: Flash, you can't keep running away like this. We need to talk.

Twilight: About why I saw you crying earlier. Are you upset with yourself because of what you said to me during the Battle of the Bands? *Flash cringes and nods, looking down. Twilight lifts his head so their eyes meet.* Flash, I'm not mad at you for that. I know you weren't yourself because three magical Sirens had turned you and the rest of the school against each other to absorb your negative energy. I know you would never say those things to me or anyone else if you had the choice.

Flash: [sniffles]
Twilight: Here, have a tissue, Flash.

*He takes it and clears his nose out*
Twilight: Now, are you ready to go back? Everybody's probably wondering where you are.

*They start walking around the junk yard until they are at the entrance. Sunset Shimmer and Tyler are waiting there until they look up and notice Twilight and Flash coming over.*
Sunset: *Concerned* Flash, are you okay?

Flash: Yes, Sunset.
[Just then, Twilight's friends & Spike came, feeling very ashamed & sorry]

Twilight: *Notices them* Girls? Spike? What are you all doing here?
AJ: We...we wanna apologize to Flash fer treatin' him the way we did.

Flash Sentry: I forgive you all, don't worry.

Humane Five: *Relieved* Thank you, Flash.
AJ: And Twi, thank you fer snappin' some sense into us.

Twilight: *continues hugging him* Shh. *rubs his back, silent, as he continues to cry*

Flash Sentry: [pushes Twilight away form her] Go away from me! Those people just hate me so much, as much as you hate me, Twilight! Goodbye, I hope you hate me so much! [ran to hisΒ CAR Β & drove away, crying]

(Applejack happens to show up a few seconds later)
Applejack: Hey, Twilight. Why'd you run off like that earlier? (Referring to when Twilight went to check up on Flash)
Twilight: ... Applejack, you have your drivers license, right?
Applejack: Yeah, why?
Twilight: Because. Friend of ours needs our help. And we have to get to him before it's too late.

And the next thing you knew is that either Twilight banished her friends forever or punishes them for how the way they treated Flash Sentry.

Until proven otherwise, I will believe that Flash's role in EQG3 is wanting to prove he can be useful to Twilight's magic-related adventures.
