Whiskers Alleycat was always meant to be a badass, but in the early stories I wrote featuring him he was also a lot goofier and not as anger-ridden. In the beginning, Whiskers was more like Sylvester crossed with Top Cat and Heathcliff, but as the years droned on; with me passing through high school and college, I grew gradually more and more angry and spiteful. Somehow I guess Whiskers wound up becoming the conduit for this brooding wrath, and as such he became the vicious ill-tempered psychotic feline that he is now.

You can still notice the vague silliness if you pay close attention when you read my early scripts such as "The Pesky Parrot" (the very first cartoon script I ever wrote). Granted, I've recently begun revising my old scripts, but I try not to omit too many of the jokes, as I still consider a lot of them to be pretty funny nearly 10 years after first writing them.
