The character is Rydia of the Mists from my favorite rpg, Final Fantasy IV (first released in the states as Final Fantasy II on the super nintendo).

Yes, I did on both counts. I actually broke out in manical laughter and had to shove my hands over my mouth and then bite on my sleeve so as not to disturb everyone else in the cinema; that whole seaside bit was genious. Also, I watched certain bits and thought; dude, Johnny Depp is totally about to kiss Alan Rickman (also, Timothy Spall at another...) now, which when I told my friend she said that it was "a whole new meaning to the word slash".

Heaven love Johnny Depp. But seriously, you have to wonder if he has trouble getting out of character sometimes... It's the old SNL fan in me remembering a Phil Hartman sketch where he claimed he couldn't remember the sound of his actual voice.
