Did you know that at one time I wanted to draw comics? Like 22 pages plus a cover AT LEAST. Every. Single. Month. Plus other cover work, collaborations, double issues int he summers, annuals... I'm getting anxiety just thinking about it. Art on a deadline is for those that are more technician than I am. I can't summon the inspirado, it just appears. Sure, I can encourage it and I can guide it, but I can't force it. It used to take me a week sometimes to do a page! I wasn't cut out for that work, but I still love the idea. I am now going to instead invent my own comics in my own style. Break every rule of how to make comics the "Marvel Way". I'll start by not doing stupid superheroes. Then word balloons, I hate those infernal things... Oh yeah, this here is the cover of the ashcan first alpha printing, made at Kinko's next to my college dorm, copy of Ultra-Violent Comics number 0.1, later renumbered 0. Yeah, it makes no sense. Zero issues were all the rage. It predates issue 1, dude! It's 90s-tastic! And extreme. Don't forget that. Anyway, this turned out to be a satire, but I didn't know that at the time. I was taking it way too seriously. If I had had more fun at it and let shit go, I could have worked faster, better and maybe could have finished more than two half-size stories ever in the year I was trying to do my own comic thing.
