Here is one of the 1000. ONE THOUSAND!!!! copies of the original and only copy of Ultra-Violent Comics. Well, the printer screwed up (the defunct and much missed Small Publisher's CO-OP) and printed it on the wrong paper, the newsprint you see here. We wanted the fancy bleach white cheap paper, not the grey one! So since we (yes, this is a collaboration with the venerable Khang Mai of... you've never heard of him.) now had 2000 copies of a comic that we needed about 100 copies of, we decided to give away as many as we could at The 1999 Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC. We would start with the greys, then try to sell the whites. We handed out about 80 or so copies over the course of the day. One guy really, really liked it and talked to us for a while. One dad was furious that we gave it to his 13 year old-ish son. I guess him sharing it with his way younger brother didn't help. I explained to the dad that I was looking at way more messed up stuff when I was younger than his little one. This only made him madder. He stormed off threatening to shut us down, but this was late in the day anyway, so we just packed up and left. Probably a year of work and way over $1000 in expenses to make one fan. Where are you today. buddy?!? I know you had glasses. I think. If ANYONE actually recognizes this from someone who collects the most obscure and insignificant comics of all time perhaps, please let me know!
